PLEASE READ: If this thread turns into a debate about politics or religion it will be closed immediately, keep the discussion civil. This may be inevitable but I'd like to think we're all capable of discussing stuff like this in a civil manner.
The fact this is the second attack that has happened to Paris in a year makes me extremely worried and sick to my stomach RIP to all those who lost their lives tonight. What are your thoughts on this?

It's heartbreaking, I can't stop watching BBC though. I love how the French are so united though, helping strangers out. Glad Hollande (sp?) is straight to it as well, closing the boarders and deploying the military. Really, really hope no one else gets injured.

I just want to start by saying that the comments saying "nobody cares about us" "don't feel sorry for the .... if you don't pray for ....." When it happens closer to home, it feels more real. And by saying this, i'm not unaware of the middle east, africa, south america. When a attack happen in a "peaceful" country it steals the headlines.
But no. It's sad, and scary. I never will understand why people can do this to others. For what? In the end it won't matter. Time will pass and 9 to 5 take over again. They gain fear, but not control. ....

I don't really know what to say other than that it is horrific, and frightening - but of course that is what they want.

Horrific. I see France has closed its borders and can see the rest of Europe following suit. absolutely disgusting things going on in the world at the moment, no religion and no sane motive, just cold blooded murder. RIP all and hope it's contained ASAP. Thoughts with anyone around Paris right now

The Eiffel Tower's lights being turned off is a beautiful gesture.

This is getting seriously crazy now. There were also terrorist attacks and bombings in Baghdad and Lebanon, and Japan and Mexico are currently facing an earthquake + tsunami and a hurricane, respectively. I'm very upset right now. #PrayFortheWorld

In the morning, media reported 26 people died.
Now I just found out that at least 153 people were killed.

It is truly heartbreaking and sad. But what really shocks me as a Lebanese person is the attention this tragic event gets, but the ones that occur in Lebanon are more or less ignored. I think this is the result of a shallow media coverage. On Thursday, ISIS sent 4 bombers to Beirut, 2 bombings occured, one was caught, and the fourth bomber was killed before doing the crime. About 50 casualties and 70 injured. What also hurts is that people are moved by this tragedy but not moved by the millions of tragedies occuring every single minute in other countries. I'm not pointing out that certain lives are more important than others, but I demand for equal importance instead.
In the lights of the situation, there is no doorway for an escape from terrorism as we can see that 2 separate countries were victims of the same criminal within just about 24 hours, if not less. I don't know how, but it's time to end this massacre before this massacre literally ends us.

While most of us are aware that some countries are deeply troubled corners of the world, it's hard to express condolences for specific tragedies that you haven't even heard about. The world didn't give me its support when my Dad died, and that's perfectly understandable.

That's simply horrifying. I read a newspaper's online live ticker when I woke up to all the Paris pictures in my Instagram and Twitter feed. That just makes me feel sick. But I also believe that Hollande is doing the right thing in shutting down the borders and deploying the military.
But seriously, you hear about France on the local news, but nothing about Beirut etc., my parents hadn't even heard about it before I read it online...
