LOL I love Britney but seriously what is the point in a live album from her when she lip synchs most of the time and the few songs that aren't sound pretty bad? Britney is best experienced when watching her, not listening to her. And this is my point on the Taylor thread.

LOL I love Britney but seriously what is the point in a live album from her when she lip synchs most of the time and the few songs that aren't sound pretty bad? Britney is best experienced when watching her, not listening to her. And this is my point on the Taylor thread. It's common knowledge amongst Britney fans she's not a great vocalist. But she has always been a great dancer and great performer, with catchy songs, and that's why people go see her. So what if she lip syncs? She is dancing and moving around, it'd be almost impossible for her to do all that and sing at the same time. I know artists like Beyonce and Pink can do it but Britney has never sounded too good trying to sing while dancing, I'd honestly rather have her lip sync if it means she won't sound bad and will dance better than have her try to sing and sound bad while half assing the dancing. Dancing can be a form of art too you know. You seem to have this really closed minded impression of what "art" is and what an artist should be, that everything needs to have emotion and deep meaning. You say UMS is a great record, to me it's always been such a poorly written and monotonous, dull sounding album with some of the most uncreative and unoriginal songwriting I've ever heard. It just goes to show we have different tastes and standards I guess. Also maybe instead of trying to turn every music thread into an argument, why not just make a thread for the artists you think are so great? There's no point in going into Taylor or Britney's threads and trying to convince us how these other artists are "more talented."

^^ I'm ain't going around in circles in this thread that's for certain. That Avril discussing is simply for another day. If you want to state your opinion on UMS you can simply create a thread and I would love to discuss it with you. Are we arguing? I just thought we were passing opinions across like tennis. Poor Adele thread...

Poor Adele thread... Well all I've seen so far is that you've entered 2 artists' threads to basically put them down and talk about how there's other artists you think are better than them. That's bound to end up creating an argument at some point because their fans are going to defend them. If there's other artists you care to discuss, you could just make a separate thread and discuss them there rather than going into another artist's thread and talking about how this person is better than that person, or make a general music thread to talk about what you think is "real" music, etc. The Taylor thread went off topic because of that. There's no problem discussing these things, but I think it would be better to make a separate thread for it if that's what you want to discuss.

Could you say that to the Adele thread? because I am sure someone is trying to state that Taylor is better and being negative towards Adele? like why would you bring up Taylor Swift in the Adele thread? I might think about creating one.

Britney has released a new single "Make Me Ooh" featuring some rapper named G-Eazy. I haven't checked to see if it's on YT so I don't have a link but it's on iTunes. I have only listened to the 90 second preview so far and it's alright but doesn't wow me honestly.
The other day she also released the commercial for her new fragrance Private Show that features a song of the same name rumored to be on her 9th album. Wasn't terribly impressed by that one either.
Sigh. It's pretty clear from the songs on BJ that Brit wants to move in a direction away from the sex kitten thing already. She is over 30 with 2 young boys. I mean she's still "got it" and all that, but I feel like the sex kitten thing should be behind her at this point and she should start making more emotional kinds of songs like Alien, Perfume, Don't Cry, Passenger, etc. It's time for her to do something with more depth now, not just because she is a 30+ mom of 2, but she's been through a lot in her personal life and releasing songs called "Make Me Ooh" are just so... meaningless and shallow. I love fun Britney, it's what she's always been known for, but it seems like it's not what she truly wants to do and as a result the songs suffer. Her heart doesn't really seem in it IMO. Maybe I'm wrong. But I hope her new album will include some ballads.

Everytime I see a new photo of Britney, I'm still trying to put my finger on what exactly has change in her face. He did have some surgery, maybe her nose or something with her mouth/teeth... She looks kind of strange nowadays imo. I dont think I will check her new music out, I didnt like any of her music for the last years (except for Alien, it's a cool song). Too much autotune, EDM-influences etc. but I still love her old stuff and I just like her as a person - she seems to be very nice and pretty silly/funny

To my knowledge she hasn't had surgery but maybe she did and didn't tell anyone. I'm not so sure she looks "different," maybe just older. She's also gotten extremely fit within the last couple years and maybe she lost weight in her face, which could be why it looks different? I downloaded the new single this morning, gave it a listen, and yeah it's ok but nothing special IMO. She used to have great songs like from the Oops and Britney eras, but now I just feel like her newer songs aren't that great (Hold It Against Me, Work Bitch, I did like Pretty Girls though). They don't hold a candle to Stronger, Oops, Slave 4 U, Overprotected... If they're gonna make her continue the pop princess route they need to give her better material than this. This is just generic and throwing a rapper in? Gee how original and creative She looks great on the single cover but she also looks like she is trying to be 18 again.

I heard Make Me and I actually liked it. I've been waiting for a new Britney song since "Perfume" (I didn't like Pretty Girls, so I'm not gonna count that ) and rumors about Make Me have been going on for a while. After seeing those pics from the video shoot, I expected some club banger but I was fairly surprised with this. It's so breezy and easy, G-Eazy is a good rapper. I will agree about the song being kinda generic but I'm happy that Britney chose something like this, instead of Work Bitch (which was fun but meh).

I do agree with you it's a bit of a different sound than what she has been doing lately, like more old-school R&B flavored. Private Show kind of had a similar feel as well (but the vocals were edited horribly).

This is just generic and throwing a rapper in? Gee how original and creative She looks great on the single cover but she also looks like she is trying to be 18 again. I gave it a listen as well. It's - just like you say - a merely ok song. Nothing special, or unpredictable. As for it being uncreative as well as unoriginal, due to throwing a rapper in, well, a lot of songs have had a rapper thrown in. From some older songs to what's mainstream today. Yes, it is not the most creative or original thing to do. But I don't think it's the act of throwing a rapper in the song and as a result, having a song that is not creative or original due to that aspect that that's the problem. It is not just having the rapper thrown in that makes it sound kind of uncreative. It is the entire song, its theme as well as its production. Even them are not something creative or original. It's like they want to bring her old image back to life in order for bher to become as popular as she was back in the early to mid 2000s again. However, I disagree with what you say about her newer songs being not that great. There is a lot of newer stuff from her that is great in my opinion. Of course, none of her newer music holds a candle to her older stuff. But she still has some good music, which is more current. Just not as good as some of her stuff back in the 2000s.

Oh there are songs I like from her last album, not saying everything she's done lately is awful, but mainly what they have chosen as singles are not that good.

I think Make Me is a great song although it isn't a song that really hooked me first listen compared to a song such as 3 or Pretty Girls. I do believe it becomes better with more listens and can honestly say it's one of my favorite songs of the year already (although that can also be contributed to a lack of quality releases this year IMO). G-Eazy is my favorite rapper and I've been obsessed with both his albums These Things Happen and When It's Dark Out for a while now so I was pretty ecstatic to know he'd be on the track. Although his rap on the song doesn't go hard or anything, I think it's fitting for the track and helps to make for an overall great song. The single definitely isn't as strong as say Gimme More or Womanizer, but with more listens it could very well become so.

I find that a lot of times some songs take awhile to grow on me so maybe this is one of them. On the other hand, I find that I end up usually liking the album songs better than the singles, like I prefer most of 1989 to Shake It Off, other songs on AL to HTNGU, and could never really get into Dangerous Woman still after all this time but I love the rest of the songs.

Yesterday I was at Kohl's and was surprised to find they already had her new fragrance Private Show (I honestly didn't think it was even out yet). I smelled it. It has a spice to it, which she mentions in the BTS commercial, but in my opinion it isn't overwhelming in any way or, how she mentioned she likes men's colognes, I think it has that air to it but without being as heavy and musky and spicy as a men's cologne would be. I quite like it and maybe I will purchase it at some point, or try to find it cheaper somewhere like eBay. I think it's a nice fragrance and different. It's spicy and kind of masculine while still being a women's fragrance and not overbearing or too much like a men's cologne.
