About a week ago, Cliff Fabri finally posted thing about Avril, here's the FB post ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In the comment session: Barbara Sedun: awwww that was nice to see. thanks for sharing cliff. however my memory was always that ken signed her when Clive was running the ship. and that LA came in later - but what do i know? Ken Krongard: Nope Clive left in November 1999 and I met Avril in your office in June 2000! (but I didn't even meet LA until the following month). Ahhh memories... Cliff Fabri: No, Clive had just left. LA was there, just taken over, probably 3 months in. Ken was one of the few that lasted and was a great help in getting us situated. He got Avril right away! Ken would remember White limo-John Hecker smile emoticon Cliff Fabri: I forgot about that. We did hook up with you (Ken) in Toronto before NYC. Karen Bliss: I remember meeting her at EMI pub with her mom, I think. Ken was there. Then, later she came to our Lowdown seminar at Ted Wrecking Yard when she was underage. Cliff, you also gave me a three-song demo entitled "first co-writes" or something like that. I'm so proud of her and always love talking with her.

Nice to see Cliff still talks about her. It must be incredible for him to see how far her career has gone. To think when he started with her she was just some high school kid from a small town in Canada, now she is a global pop star with millions of records sold. Crazy. It really makes me think how difficult it is to sustain a music career, first getting a record deal, then actually recording the album, promoting, touring, and doing it all again over and over, and hoping each one is successful enough that you don't get dropped or forgotten about. It's pretty amazing that even her first 3 albums were so successful and she worked damn hard all those years to make it happen. And here she is still, even if not as successful as before, even though she's sick, she still is writing music and has a passion for it.

From just a high school kid who loved singing to a well known pop star with millions of records sold worldwide and a strong fanbase over the years.... It's just amazing if you really think about it. That's one of the main reasons why I enjoy and love so much watching old videos of her, the ones that exist, that are pre fame. It's really great to see how much has changed ever since and how far she has come career-wise.

Does the track sounding between 0:47 - 0:52, are one of those heavy hard-rocking songs demos she did and never made it on the album?

Cliff pointed out something extremely important is that the team have to know who are they working with. That's pretty much explain why Avril's career has been declined because the label isn't trying to grow with Avril and the music to develop but force Avril to write things that actually don't belong a part of her soul. I've been studied design for a while. I know that if the creater isn't here for development, everything will screw up, just like music IMO like Avril's attitude this time, she even said that she was too lazy to put down vocal, production etc. which is why some of the songs in AL doesn't sound like Avril would do like heavy autotune, faked guitar and drums sound ~

These all are needed, as well as what you mentioned about knowing the people you are working with, in order to make something more than just simply good and very successful. You need to know the people you're working with of course. But that alone won't necessarily make your work better. IMO, passion and motivation also play a very important role in this, as they can drive a person to try to do their best at whatever it is that they're doing. Now, I'm not trying to say that Avril wasn't passionate about this record, since we don't really know if she was, or was not. But that being motivated and passionate about something, in addition to knowing the ones you're working with, can make one's work or project very good naturally.

Maybe she doesnt feel like needing a bigger success and being mainstream Whatever GL is my fav, maybe its basic to some fans and GP but the decision she made on it make the album so complete and I still hear the effort. Some fans judge too quick without thinking the reasons behind everything. The feeling should be so terrible bc of tons of rejects. It definitely turns some persons less confident

Seeing this old material it's also obvious to me that her image of the skater-girl was pretty made up...

Seeing this old material it's also obvious to me that her image of the skater-girl was pretty made up... It was definitely exaggerated by the label but I don't think it was made up entirely. Avril did skateboard in high school and hung out with the skaters. The tie thing supposedly came from Butch Walker which has never been confirmed but since Avril has never denied it or even really talked about where that look came from, it may be true. I do think a lot of it was her own choice though. As the era went on and she started to become more popular I think she exaggerated the angsty skater grrrrl thing. I've noticed in very early interviews that she's perfectly nice, sweet, normal and funny kid then in later interviews she talks with her head down, 1 word answers, etc. We'll never truly know, of course. But I think it's completely possible for her to have changed her style and look over those years without interference from anyone else. Most teenagers experiment with different looks as they grow up.

I also noticed that she actually seemed very friendly in the beginning. I think that changed when she experienced how the media twisted her words around to create 'scandals' or bad press.

Speaking of Butch Walker, what went down between them?
