I was still young when Under My Skin was released (meaning not too involved into the media) but I am actually not that sure. 2004 was still an album area, meaning artists earned more money by selling albums than singles and very unlike today. I remember being a bit shocked about Don't Tell Me, not by the song in general, but the fact that I randomly watched it on MTV one day. The issue isn't new and I think I wasn't the only one. After Losing Grip things have gotten quiet around her. This might had happened due to lack of promotion. And shortly after Don't Tell Me was released the album was in stores. So maybe people didn't feel the need to buy the single when they can have the album two weeks later. I don't know if My Happy Ending had sold better. She was back on the sceen and back in everyone's hearts when it was released, which could be a plus. But I think there's a chance, taking a look at Complicated and Girlfriend.

UMS would have been bigger! The following singles will also receive popularity but for what happened in UMS era, it was surely a hit.
