I don't know if this has been said here, but apparently the album cover is her wearing a dress (I'm thinking a plaid skirt) and holding some balloons. I hope she isn't using the balloons to spell out the name of the album because it's such an unoriginal concept. This is what has been said, and that the album is indeed called Bite Me.

Following over 1400 people on IG, it’s weird she hasn’t followed Avril back, especially after last night. But who knows? Maybe she’s not to aware of who she follows or gives a follow back, I don’t really know how Gen Z kids roll these days lmao.

I fee honored as a follower of hers that she’s been invited to an event like this, it really send the message of how Avril is considered an icon just as Madonna, Cher, Joan Jett 20 years ago when she first came into the spotlight. She’s a legend, and nobody can deny it at this point.
I liked the way she talked on the podium. Looks like she actually studied her lines and came off natural.
I think it’s almost 100% certain the MGK collab is the second single, especially since she said “the song is coming out”. It’s her best shot at doing well on the charts and be a huge hit on Alternative. I think it’s the right way to go. As to the collabs, I’ve never been much of a fan, so I hope we don’t get more than 3 collabs, especially if the album is only 12-13 songs. If we’re talking about a 16+ tracklist, I could take 4 or 5 collabs, but nothing more. I hate albums that are half-collabs…

Is YouTube even a parameter of success anymore? If you check out Taylor’s latest videos, none of them even have 100m views, and we’re talking about the artist of the decade and big successful singles on Billboard. I think 10 million is a decent amount considering she didn’t even chart on the Hot 100. Streaming is going well for the song as well, being her most popular song at the moment on Spotify. HAW did worse numbers on streaming services, even if it did slightly better on YouTube. Radios that haven’t played her for the past two eras are now playing her again in different parts of the world. It’s very hard to tell if a song is actually being more successful than other because there are SO MANY outlets nowadays.
I have a feeling this second single will hit harder than 'Bite Me'.

Now that we know the album is out in February, we can expect pre-order pretty much any minute now. I’m thinking it’ll be more towards the end of the month though, closer to the second single release date.

I actually think it sounds 100% like her? If you read the text, there’s a lot of the vocabulary and expressions she normally uses and a lot of it seemed like a copy and paste of her radio interview from a couple of weeks ago. I agree that her written interviews are sometimes weird in the way they’re worded, but this seemed pretty genuine. Maybe there were some post-copy edits made but I believe they must’ve been pretty subtle.
I liked the interview and it’s great she’s being candid about other subjects, like how she actually controls her social media and posts everything herself because her team would write “cheesy” posts lmao. That was a surprise. Also the fact that the interviewer pointed out that she was sort of scheduling IG posts for the rest of the day on her single release day, who knew she was a full-on influencer? XD

Ok the interview went great, but should we be worried about her not saying “top of the year” anymore but “next year” now? Lmao. I think she looked kind of shy, but I guess she was just happy to be there after so many years.
As regards the performance, I liked it. I can’t say I loved it. I prefer the other two tbh. She seemed more energetic there. She seems more out of breath this time and like the song is going faster than her vocals. I liked the fact that it was live and not pre-recorded and edited like the other two, but I don’t know if it’s my favorite one.

For interviewers, it's either a hit or a miss with her. I think you can tell right away if she's comfortable with the interviewer or if she just looks awkward or counting the minutes to get the hell out.
If she isn't feeling it, you might wind up in something like this:
However, we have to admit she's gotten a lot better overtime. She's nowhere near as awkward as those years, and the worst you can get from her is a more reserved or shy attitude. Speaking of bad interviews, I remember when she was promoting HTNGU she called out the radio interviewers for calling her difficult when she was younger, and she was kind of fed up with that and stood up for herself lol. She was definitely pissed with that.

I like the name of the tour, even if it’s the name of the single lol. Definitely a call back to her Try To Shut Me Up Tour title.
I just hope the whole thing doesn’t get cancelled again with all the latest rise in cases. I’m so tired of hearing about this stupid virus. It never ends, does it?

This pre-recorded approach she’s been using is not my cup of tea, and as mentioned above, it takes away the magic of a live performance. And she doesn’t need tuning in her voice, which this one has. I want to hear her completely live, not auto tuned and pitch corrected.
The rest was great, her energy, the outfits, the aesthetic in general. I don’t mind the guitar playing, in fact, I applaud it. How many years have we been complaining she only plays guitar for the same old songs over and over again? Even if it’s basically muted or unplugged, why should it be a big deal? She’s done it her whole career. At least she’s strumming the right chords, not just playing whatever. She’s back to playing new songs on the guitar, learning them, putting effort into being a musician again, something she hadn’t done since UMS basically. Plus, her attitude was great overall.
I don’t think I like it better than the James Corden one though, but she’s giving us some great performances, which we hadn’t seen in sooo long.

I honestly doubt there will be a “radio friendly” single, tbh. How radio friendly can pop-punk get anyway? There are no indications she’s worked on a pop song, and I wouldn’t want that, it would break the consistency of her album (for the 4th time in a row).
What could happen is that she has a stronger single coming up, just the way MHE was, and that’s where she’ll put most of her effort into. Besides, she needs a big song to accompany the release of the album, but I guess she won’t aim at pop charts but fully at the alternative ones. I guess if people are expecting a RNR sounding song, I don’t think that is happening (thank god for all of us lol)

I’m inclined to give her the benefit of doubt on this one. Of course our first instinct is to think she’s not doing anything at the moment because being absent on social media = time off (stupid association we make).
She proved us wrong a couple of weeks ago. All this time we thought she was MIA just chilling, she was doing a single cover photoshoot, filming a music video, booking live performances, and that could be the tip of the iceberg. With the Fallon performance underway and that day she was on set after releasing the music video (we still don’t know what that is), we can definitely assure she’s working hard BTS and she’s not playing this time around. On the other hand, I think they’re taking the promo for this song not so consistently because they might want to aim at longevity rather than massive instant success. Hence why these performances are quite apart from each other. They might want to get the word out that she’s back before coming with a second single, which could be the MHE of this era, preceded by a “weaker” lead single (even though to me Bite Me is her best lead at the moment). I believe they’re planning on giving that second single an even bigger push along with the album release.

I don’t feel the promo has been necessarily weak. She’s booked performances in two of the most popular shows in the US and will sing on the NYE event, which she hadn’t since 2010.
Let’s also bear in mind that promo is no longer relying on interviews or performances, but on social media interaction. That’s her main issue, since she’s never been very popular on streaming and is not doing much on her IG other than sharing links to the song almost everyday. She needs to be more active on her TikTok and try to interact more with the fans. I don’t know why she hasn’t done a TikTok campaign yet.
I think it’s a wasted opportunity if she doesn’t release the single on CD. She may not be good at streaming, but she’s great at physical sales. Those CDs would sell like hotcakes.

When should we be getting the Billboard Hot 100 debut? If it even is debuting there, which would be weird if that wasn’t the case given it’s being more successful than HAW and even that song charted.

Something interesting I heard today. I saw the livestream Big Noise did on Instagram, hosted by Feldman. He talked about how songs that were over 3 minutes long were too much for his attention span, that they needed to be kept within the 2-3 min timeframe. I guess 95% of the album will have the same length as Bite Me and maybe we'll get a couple of longer ones, but yea, I'd expect shorter songs than we are used to with her based on what he said.
