As every year Avril is raising funds on her birthday for a good cause. This year she joins forces with LimeLight Foundation to raise funds to provide treatment grants to children with Lyme disease. More information here: lymelight.blueskysweet.com/My goal is to raise $50,000 to help more children receive proper treatment and medications in their fight against Lyme disease.

It's really great! Read the full blog. It's also good to hear they only paused the foundation to re think. That she had to figure out how to expand the program, or how they are doing it now. Never the less, it's a great cause to give as a gift

She could've at least record a video like each year...It's odd she didn't this year, especially since it's revolving around Lyme disease.

Yeah... noble project (as always), but a bit underwhelming from a fan's point of view. I wasn't expecting "stuff" and "s**n" to mean new music, but she could have least have recorded a video or something.

Yeah it's unfortunate she didn't participate in the video this year but it's still wonderful she is doing something for Lyme disease this year. It's ridiculous that insurance companies don't cover those medical costs. Good on Avril for bringing this to light (no pun intended) and trying to help others who can't afford those costs. I also think it really says something about her character that she didn't make the blog post about herself in any way, even though she would have had the perfect right to talk about how Lyms disease affected her and why she wants to help others, she never mentioned herself at all, only about giving back to others and that's awesome. I have to say, even though I realize the point of giving is to not expect anything in return, I think it's a little annoying that by donating you only get a "chance" to win a prize. More people would probably donate if they actually got the prize but I guess ALF probably couldn't afford to give 1,000 shirts away. The bigger prizes like her shoes make sense to do it that way, but you'd think they'd at least spring for shirts. Regardless, I hope Avril reaches her goal.

Agreed, especially at $500 donation a t-shirt wouldn't break the bank haha. The $10 one could have been like, one of those live strong bracelet type things. But they would also need to ship them. And probably wouldn't ship overseas, where most of her fans are.

So this one is like the Kickstarter-esque fundraiser of last year? Kind of disappointing how all you get is entries for giveaways, but at least it's for a good cause.
I was actually considering donating last year but Fallout 4 was on sale so I got that instead... sorry guys.

Yeah I don't see this campaign getting a lot of donations because of the way the prizes work, but hopefully she has a lot of generous fans who will give anyway. I thought about it and I would really like to but I've already spent so much money on other things in the last few months and bought concert tickets plus gifts to meet Dalton. How much of that $10 even goes directly to ALF?

I agree with you guys, the problem here is that you arent guaranteed a prize. I know people should give for the sake of being good - but it doesnt work that way. They could've used Twitter shoutouts like last year, like first 10 to donate gets this, instead of a lottery. Same with the prizes, the first ones to donate could get the shoes for example. To make people dedicated to actually donate. Many others possible gifts like last year she made a video for like the people who donated a specific amount, it was still the same video but at least it was something! I messaged Avril Foundation just now on Bandaids Twitter asking if they needed any help with promoting the campaign, if they reply - if they are twitter active, I'll try to let them know that a lot of the fans think this way, because i'm afriad this campaign wont reach high at all otherwhise

I feel like they might struggle here. No real incentive to donate and it's not something easy to relate to. Sick disabled kids most people can be like "that's really sad" but lymes so uncommon not many people can relate to it. I find people donate to charities they have a connection with and without any prizes for smaller donations I don't see them doing too well. Hope I'm wrong obviously!!

It is a very spesific cause. And 3000 raised so far, with notmany days left. I've been thinking alot about donating or not. But it is a very good cause. And i have myself gone throughthe same doctor rounds as Avril. So as Katy said ^, it is easier to give when you can relate. So i have donated 25

Well presumably most people donating would be her fans and we all know what she personally dealt with with her own Lyme. So I assume they thought a lot of people would want to donate because of that.

Considering she doesn't have many fans anymore.. and most of them are about 15-30 yrs old,
getting 50,000 $ seems a goal too high.. but let's see. I hope for the Lyme treatments.
Anyway prizes could be better: last time you could win a Skype call with her and stuff.. now AD clothes of her worst collection ever I think .
