I've been going through a bit of an Avril dry spell lately, meaning I haven't been following her or listening to her music much. That's partially why I haven't been active here lately - I figure/hope that by removing myself from Avril discussions that I'll slowly regain interest. Even though I still plan on being less active for a little while longer, I think it's a topic worth bringing up and I'll be following this thread closely. I was wondering if this happens to you guys as well. I haven't been a fan for very long (I feel like I say this in every thread I make ), so in the back of my mind I'm actually a little worried that interest won't come back since I don't have a long-standing/deep attachment to her music, but I also understand that we're in a dry period for Avril news as well so that factors into the equation. I actually feel a little guilty about all this because I feel like I'm ingrained in the BA community pretty deeply at this point but the passion for Avril just isn't there at the moment. Many of you have been fans for 10-15 years so I'm curious to hear what everyone's experiences are. Do you go through periods where you don't follow her that much, or are you a die-hard fan year-round?

Currently in one right now. I have 6x more green day/paramore last.fm scrobbles than avril scrobbles over the past week.

For me it's not necessary that I listen to Avril's music constantly. If one of her songs comes up on my phone, depending on the song or my mood, I may listen to it. But I haven't felt inclined lately to listen to her because obviously we're waiting for new music. Her old albums will always be good, but I'm ready for something new. Right now I don't feel the need to listen to her music very much. Doesn't mean she's not still my favorite artist or in any way decrease my level of fanship. To be honest I don't even know how people listen to her all the time without getting bored, I honestly think some fans might feel they "have to" listen to her daily, but anyone would be bored listening to the same music over and over. For now I'm enjoying other music and awaiting Avril's new album. I'm very much looking forward to hearing her new direction and when she finally releases something, I'm sure I will be playing it a lot. But for now I don't want to oversaturate listening to her old stuff before I'm about to play her new stuff a lot.

No. I don't. I find it's just the opposite. It's Avril that has the dry spells. It's Avril that fails to hold my attention. I still love her music just as much as I did when I first heard it. The same way I still love the music of The Beatles, since I first started listening to them in 1963. Some people have given up on her because she hasn't released an album in 4 years. I didn't give up on The Eagles just because there was 28 years between albums. My passion for music in general, or an album, artist or a song, never waivers. People may come and go in my life. But, not music.

I'm in one currently. I usually find something I like, play the song/album/band to death and then get bored of it for a bit. So I tend to listen to things on a random cycle.

I've been in one since about 2014. It's kinda funny how this happened, actually: before that, Avril was the only artist I ever seriously listened to. For about 7 years, I would listen to her music every single day. But then, when AL came out, that changed a lot. I loved this album at first, especially "Bad Girl" - such a cool rock song. I wanted more of this kind, but Avril obviously isn't a rock artist, so I started listening to some rock bands ... and slowly started turning away from Avril's music.
Rock, especially post-hardcore, quickly became one of my favourite musical genres. The stuff that I listened to was full of the things I had missed on AL: real instruments, decent production, great melodies, awesome lyrics... I just hadn't realized all that up until this point.
Anyway, since early 2014 or so I've been listening to almost nothing but rock music. I found several new (old) bands and became a huge fan of two within the last 3 years. But I hardly spent any time listening to Avril's music, only maybe once a month or so. And since 3 years is quite a long time, I almost fear that I'm slowly turning into a non-fan. And honestly, this seemingly endless wait and no decent news for 5 months doesn't help at all. I really fear that I might stop being a fan if AL6 will disappoint me. It's just that I've been a fan for 10 years now, I grew up with Avril, I don't want this to end...

I'm in one too even when I listend to UMS a couple of weeks ago. I think it's normal. I like 30 artists and it's hard to listen to them all at once.

I also haven't listened to her music a quite a while but as BogoGog24 said: it's getting boring listening to the same music for such a long time. I mean I listen to Let Go for about 15 years now. That's a long time... I'm so up for something new. I can enjoy myself with other bands wich have new music out such as Paramore and Linkin Park. Also Lana del Rey is coming with a new record but I don't know when. In the meantime I'll listen to other bands and when Avril releases her new record I'm sure I'm also gonna listen to her previous records again but not as often as her new record The evening before the release I'll listen to all her albums in chronological (is that a word? XD) order haha I always do that

All the time. I sometimes go weeks without listening to Avril, but that doesn't mean that I've lost interest or don't appreciate the music anymore. Her earlier albums will always be up there as some of my favourites but I follow so many different artists that it's difficult to incessantly follow or listen to one specific artist all the time, not to mention it would get tiresome hearing the same songs over and over. No doubt AL6 will rejuvenate interest and it'll be played to death, and then the cycle will continue until the next album.

Avril is my favourite artist of all time, but that doesn't mean I always listen to her I've listened to all the albums again entirely after I hadn't heard them for a while, and it was an awesome experience tbh I went through a dry phase between 2014 and 2016, which helped me appreciate her even more now atm I listen to her whenever one of her songs comes in the shuffle play, but I don't necessarily look for that, I'm craving for new music atm

I guess from 2003 to 2007/2008 I listened to Avril nonstop, always, as much as possible.. then I guess from 2008 to 2011 it slowed down and bit by bit, year by year I'm listening less. Doesn't mean I stopped following her or loving her music. It's just that now I'm 25 and have so much more to do than when I was 11 and first started to listen. Also, nowadays I listen to a lot more artists than before, I'm always trying to find something new to not get bored and so on
And for example, this month I listened to TBDT twice in full, I honestly think the last time I did that was years ago.. and still as I said before, doesn't change how much I love her music

It's crazy to think how old her albums actually are at this point. LG is 15 years old, UMS over a decade old, TBDT just hit 10 years this year, and GL is over 5 years old already. Even her last release will be 4 years this November. It's crazy how time has flown by. Her first 3 records are amazing and even GL and AL have their moments, and as much as her fans will always enjoy these albums no matter how old they are, when you realize how old they actually are, it does make it very difficult to not be bored of them or get the sense they feel stale.

I rarely listen to her music these past few years.. sometimes it happens i get that Avril music need, and play a few songs on repeat the whole day. I have on twitter notifications so i see when she posts, or Slip makes sure i do see it But personally i won't say i am on a dry spell. Because i am on a Avril forum every day. I can't wait to get some news. I sing her songs in my head. Im exited for what is to come. And love to memorise back in time. I think it is because Avril is one of three artists i support 100% all the time. She kina have a special part in my life. Although, i can get periods where i get bored - they don't last very long

Not musically, not particularly. My itunes is on shuffle pretty much constantly and I have just under 40,000 songs so when Avril does come on I certainly don't skip it, but I don't often go out of my way to listen to her either. When I get a new album I give it a good listen a good few times and then back to shuffle.
I have dry spells from BA because I don't have much in the way of general conversation, I try but meh... I'll be back more when there's something new to talk about, but I can only do so many speculation-esque threads.
