Last night I finally got to watch the third and final film of the High School Musical series, which I've never been able to see. I saw the first 2 movies when they came out, recently found them used at a secondhand store and re-watched them. Saw the third film last night.
Who else here shamelessly loves HSM? I may be crazy but I think it's essentially the Grease of our generation. Love it or hate it, HSM is iconic for this generation. It was basically the launching pad for Zac Efron's career.
I love the original film, it will always be my favorite of the three and is the best one IMO. Love the songs, I think it has the best songs. I have a special attachment to the film because when I was in 8th grade I was in my school's drama club and we did this as our spring musical, I played a "skater" and got to participate in almost all the musical numbers. I have fond memories of doing that show. So watching the movie kind of brings back those memories for me and I was surprised when I listened to the songs again that I still remembered most of the lyrics.
HSM 2 is probably the worst of the bunch but still good IMO. It's nice to see the HSM gang outside of school and during the summer. The music wasn't as good in this one as the original, I thought.
HSM 3: Senior Year, I think is better than 2, but not as good as the original. Again, most of the songs don't do it for me in this one but you can't not get chills when you hear that Graduation Remix of We're All In This Together.
I also love the song High School Musical. The choreography in this film I think was the best of all the movies. They really went all out with the production and the costumes and everything. The plot I think also hits home for a lot of our generation with going off to college and leaving friends behind, figuring out what you want to do with your life, etc.
What are your guys's thoughts on the films? Anyone as big a HSM fan as I am? I am freakin' 24 years old but I still love it. Watching the films makes me want to go be in a musical lol I kind of love the character of Sharpay even though she's supposed to be the villain. I love the music, mostly in the first film. I am a big Disney fan in general so I love anything Disney. This is classic Disney. I'm kind of now wanting to seek out Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure and see if I can find it somewhere to watch. #NoShame
