Ughhh I just can’t with critics keep on saying this about Let Go. Like, Really? This album was made for unsure, shy, clunky teens. It was supposed to be like that. The whole pop punk rock thing from the countryside and suburban teens was around this topic. It just was represented by the girl’s side for the first time in mainstream music. It gets you to that time whenever you listen to it. And does this perfectly

This album saved millions of lives and took out so many teenagers from depression. It save me from commiting suicide and it was helped me to go through one of my hardest times. I'm sorry but I don't agree with this.

That's kind of a good score by their standards~
I enjoyed the review, I think it's honest and they never really say anything negative about her; Let Go wasn't exactly the album that she wanted to make, but she still had the two tracks she wanted (Unwanted, Losing Grip). Let Go was huge at the time, and I loved it so much as a child and as a teenager, but let's be honest: it's not the kind of album that you listen to as an adult. For a coming of age soundtrack, yes, it was magnificent! Key word: was.
Also, it's Pitchfork, they would never give a high rating to a mainstream artist, they're too ~serious~ and ~hipster~ for that.
I was actually surprised when they gave Hole's Live Through This a perfect ten. Not because it doesn't deserve it, but because it was a hit at some point, and because most people don't take Courtney Love seriously (which is sacrilege imo). Maybe in 20 years, they'll give Let Go a solid 8.
Oh, and one thing I really liked about this review is that they recognized Avril's impact on mainstream music, but not only the disposable Disney girls and her other clones, but also pop-punk in general. She did that! She paved the way! Pop punk wasn't really mainstream until Let Go, and no one gives her credit for that! She gave birth to neo-punk and the new aesthetic everyone did and overdid back in the day.
Also, merry xmas little Ramonaliebers 💖✨

A fantastic album from start to finish as far as I’m concerned. Up there with Hybrid Theory and All Killer No Filler as some of the best albums of that era.
