Hey guys, I have a question about dyeing my hair. This will be my first time dyeing my hair. My natural hair color is black and I would like to dye it dark blue. Do I still need to bleach it first? Or just regular coloring?

Yeah you’ll need to bleach it first. Though if you can pleaseeee go to a salon. You never know how much/little bleach is going to lift the colour of your hair (or what it’s going to lift it too, ie cool tones or warm/orange!) plus box dyes are so damaging to hair

It works better if you bleach your hair first. It does work with unbeleuchtet hair as well but the color will probably not be the way you want it. I used Directions for coloring my hair. It lasts pretty long and you can make the color darker or lighter with leaving it on longer.

I was thinking of doing it by myself but since it's my first time I'm gonna need some help from someone lol

That's definitely worth it! Coloring itself is easy though, bleaching is truly better done by someone who knows what he or she is doing. Actually, when I remember correctly, I always went to a salon for bleaching....also, you need to bleach it once, so you "won't loose any money", hope you know what I mean ^^

Yeah I don’t know much about dyeing hair but I know anyone who has ever tried to bleach their hair themselves has ended in a disaster.

Like only go to the salon for the bleaching (so I'll be out of the salon with only white/some sort of blonde hair? lol why does it sound so funny to me) and do the coloring at home by myself? And I'm actually not sure what you mean by your last sentence if you don't mind explaining lol

I meant it’s better to have it done in a salon than „ruin“ your hair doing it yourself.
I always did the coloring at home! My mom helped me the first time lol, because I had no clue at all. I would recommend colors by „Directions“. The colors do look like shown by them (you can still make them lighter or darker by leaving them in your hair longer or not) and they truly last for month! Plus they‘re really not that expensive.

Okay so the final decision is I'll have to make an appointment to do it at a salon!

Hey did you color your hair? Not yet, I'm still thinking about it. I wanted to dye it dark blue but because of the conversation that I had last night with my friend, now I kinda want to be a brunette lol. I did get a new haircut though. The hairdresser complimented my hair telling me and it looks so shiny, soft and thick and she also asked if this is my natural hair color, and I said yes (my natural hair color is black). Then she told me to never color it because it would be such a shame if the dye ruins my hair eventually. I was like, maybe I'll have to think again about coloring my hair... haha

I have been having hair fall due to it and now I’m trying to take care so not ruin it much further and this is the last time I’m applying any chemicals in my hair. I didn’t get my hair bleached though. Plus, when your hair is black, they will have to put the chemical on your hair for more time than usual.. and not all Colors last long. Below is the pic my hair dresser took after colouring.
