What did you get for Christmas 2020?

It’s still Christmas Eve day where I live but so far I have gotten a few things. I got a few gift cards from my managers (Starbucks, general Visa, and Macy’s) and the best gift of all so far: for years I have wanted a Lord of the Rings letter opener (back when the movies first came out, they made letter openers shaped like the swords from the movies). My boyfriend was able to find one for me, they did some more when The Hobbit films were released I guess. So I got Bilbo/Frodo’s sword Sting in letter opener form! (Sadly it does not glow blue though lol) I love it!

For me, the best gift imaginable was the news regarding the coronavirus vaccine. Anything else is icing on the cake. Merry Christmas.

I have some incredible news to share with everyone. Yesterday my boyfriend of 3 years proposed! It’s his grandmother’s ring and it’s so simple and elegant, just perfect for me! We have to get it resized as it’s a little big but we are so happy! We spent our Christmas calling all of our closest family and friends to share in our good news with us. What a way to end the year that has been 2020! (Oh and you can be sure I was sobbing hysterically several times yesterday, I was so happy and shocked lol)

I love that we have this little community here where of course we bond over our common love for Avril, but we’ve also gotten to all know each other beyond that to the point we share our personal news like babies being born and marriages. We may be a much smaller community than in the hey days, but the fact some of us had been here for a decade or more and we feel that level of community with each other, is what makes this group so special.
