CHVRCHES share cover of Avril Lavigne’s ‘I’m With You’
CHVRCHES and Avril Lavigne
Scottish electropop trio CHVRCHES have shared a cover of Avril Lavigne’s “I’m With You.”
The cover was recorded for Apple Music‘s Home Sessions series. “‘I’m With You is a classic banger ballad of our times,” she says of the cover. Alongside the brooding cover of Lavigne’s 2002 single, they also reworked “California.” CHVRCHES’ take on “California” is a stripped down version, as frontwoman Lauren Mayberry sings of lockdown isolation.
“It helped put a lot of things into perspective,” Mayberry continues. “The band is normally an amazing but chaotic part of our lives. Working on Screen Violence became a really comforting and grounding thing to do because the band was one of the only things that provided us with some sense of normalcy.”
