"Okay I almost did not post this, but it's just so weird I had too."
- Don't worry Avril Lavigne is not getting cancelled, it's just political banter...
Lauren Boebert says the left wants to cancel Avril Lavigne for singing about straight people The Republican Congresswoman has a new nemesis: 20-year-old Canadian pop hits.

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) suggested that singer Avril Lavigne may get “canceled” for her 2002 hit “Sk8er Boi.”
“Has the delusional Left canceled Avril Lavigne for this yet?” Boebert tweeted with a clip from the video for the two-decade-old song about a failed heterosexual romance. The video was edited to only play the track’s iconic opening lines: “He was a boy/She was a girl/Can I make it any more obvious?”
It’s hard to understand exactly what problem Boebert presumes “the delusional Left” would have with the song. The characters are fictional; if Lavigne says that they’re a boy and a girl who like each other at different points of their lives, then that’s what they are.
In response, people pointed out that her home state is facing bigger problems than 20-year-old Canadian pop hits. A wildfire raging in Colorado has destroyed 991 homes and three people have gone missing and may be dead.
Jo @jojofromjerz The wildfire raging in your state right now has claimed over 1000 homes. Thousands of people are displaced. At least 2 people are missing and feared dead. And. You. Are. Tweeting. This. Crap. You are a disgrace to the people of your state and you are a stain on our Congress.

I Hate Everyone @hateu4life Sorry to interrupt your Avril Lavigne memes, but what are you doing to help the thousands of people who are now homeless because of the fire in your state?
Evan @daviddunn177 It’s like she doesn’t even know what to tweet about anymore.
sergio @sergio59380974 I don’t get it Boebert. What does Lavigne have to do with wild fires in the state of Colorado? Please explain. 3:48 PM · Jan 2, 2022
The Nicest Boy on this Website and App @bikivindaloo Keepin' it hip and timely with 20 year old songs.
Did this one come to mind because it was right around the time you were becoming a high school drop out? 3:15 PM · Jan 2, 2022

I'm not sure if I understand what is going on here but is she making a fool out of Avril for saying boy and girl is an obvious thing? Come on.... No, she is saying that US leftists will probably try to cancel Avril either for “assuming” genders or for creating a heterosexual love story instead of making them gay or something. As much as I think US leftists do go overboard these days with trying to find reasons to cancel everyone and everything and find something to be offended by constantly, this particular post doesn’t make a lot of sense and is grasping at straws in some desperate attempt to distract from her own shortcomings as a politician. I would certainly hope no one actually tries to “cancel” Avril for simply writing a song about a boy and girl who fell in love, especially considering it was 20 years ago when LGBTQ+ wasn’t really represented in media back then. Nor would that have been something Avril would have felt compelled to write about seeing as that wasn’t her own experience. If anything, I’d be more concerned people would go digging up Hello Kitty and trying to cancel her for being “racist.” Thank god she didn’t try that today or she’d have definitely been raked over the coals for it more than she was even in 2014.

The funny part about "Hello Kitty" is that only whites would be offended. The Japanese themselves would either not care or think it's cringe. The virtue-signaling is hilarious.

that's not what she was tryng to say. I don't know who this lady is nor do I care honestly, but the sk8er boy lyrics i have seen used as a meme (for many years actually) is in the sense that Avril is implying there are only 2 genders. That's the thing, not about a straight couple or assuming genders. Just stating that there are only 2 genders, that's what she meant.
Onviously that's not what the song is about lol.
