My buckling spring keyboard's C key and Control key just stopped working, and sometimes it just stops working altogether. While I RMA it, I'm using some rubber dome keyboard, yuck. Feels like typing on mashed potatoes.

Holy cr*p. Seriously, who came up with the idea of moving the entire domain to some crappy forum hosting service full of ads and basically trashing so much work done over the years? Seriously?
I'm not quite sure who suggested to do this, I am pretty sure the ads on this website generate more than enough revenue to pay for a VPS to host the same website. Two bucks a day would've (should have) been enough.
Seriously guys, I remember myself SSHing into the server as root and tweaking the database. It was all a matter of maintaining the server. What happened??
This website just looks like one of those cheap forums the internet is full of. Rarely do they get any attention.
50 members in one day. 16% of them are mods. This pretty much sums it up. This is far from what Bandaids used to be back then.

avrilbandaids.boards.net/thread/538/future-bandaidsTLDR; We wouldn't be here if the old staff didn't leave Bandaids to rot. This site is perfectly fine; the host has been very good to us (Unlimited members, pages, etc etc etc) and the members are happy with it. What you see now is the old mods from BA.com that formed a new staff team to run this site, we tried to save Ba.com but we couldn't do anything about it. Old BA had ads, old BA looked ancient (and was running old software - VB sucks.) had major server instability and to top it all off, a virus that took them a year to remove. This site is fast, clean, and has 100% uptime and it's free. Yes, the community is much smaller now, does anyone really care? Not really. We're here for Avril and the site is still active. Welcome back to Bandaids by the way! It's ever so kind of you to completely bash the site without looking into why we're in this mess - all of the Staff are here because they didn't want to see BA die, we're the reason Bandaids still exists, because trust me, if we hadn't of made this site- Bandaids would be gone (In it's English variation, anyway.) At the time, we couldn't afford to pay for a completely new server, domain, and forum software

Yep this site is sure a hell of a lot better than what we had before... which was nothing. This site doesn't have as many members as the old site but that's due to a few reasons that likely have little to nothing to do with the new site. One is that the old BA took so damn long to fix their site issues that many people just left. They may not know a new site has been created, but slowly we are getting some older members back. A lot of the old members could have left for various reasons as well, besides just the site issues, some people just don't have the time or same level of interest in Avril as they did before. Her career has been in a lull for awhile, especially ever since she became sick with Lyme disease. I definitely think if and when she releases new music we'll see a lot more activity in the site. It always goes down in dry periods and even the old BA had that problem as well. There's not a lot going on with Avril right now, which is the main reason people visit the site. Her fans that have stuck with her are also getting older, having school, jobs, families to look after, they don't necessarily have the same amount of time to devote to their Avril fandom anymore, especially when there's no substantial news that's worth looking into. Blizz and the other staff members have worked incredibly hard to get this site up and running for us, and they haven't asked us to contribute anything, especially financially, to help get it running. It's a change from the old site, yes, but it's one I'm sure we can all learn to live with. It functions the same as any website. We've had the site since March 2015 and we've all become used to it. Up until recently we didn't even have a gallery function and unfortunately we have basically lost all the photos that were on the old gallery (though the staff have managed to revive a good chunk of them). Supposedly Sharifa has an archive of the gallery but I doubt we'll be getting access to it anytime soon. The problems you're complaining about are NOT the fault of anyone here... go speak to Sharifa and the old staff if you have such an issue. THEY are the ones who left us sitting in the dark with ZERO updates about what was happening with the site and couldn't even be bothered to let us know they would not be finishing the upgrade. Only when Francy visited Sharifa in person did we finally receive any answers. THEY are the ones you should have a problem with. They dropped everything and left Blizz and the other staff holding the bag. They could have left BA to die but instead they tried to come up with the best solution they could, which was to find a new platform to host the site. For awhile this was even called a "temporary" site because we weren't even sure if Sharifa would allow us to use the BA trademark. This was all also happening at the time Avril became sick and no one knew what was going on with her. I was desperately trying to find out information any way I could, from members I knew on Twitter, the forum on her official website (which also no longer exists, by the way), trying to find out if anyone knew what was wrong with her. Thankfully I eventually found this new site and it was nice to be able to reconnect with everyone and even if we didn't have any info, it was comforting to be able to worry together instead of alone. I also have no problem with ads. Why? Because I use a thing called AdBlocker. Oh and the old BA had ads too, and much more annoying ones with the stupid video ads. Don't worry guys, you are all doing a great job with the new site. We were left with the shittiest situation imaginable IMO, received no communication or help at all from the old staff, and I think you guys did the best you could under such deplorable circumstances. The new site is great IMO, and in a lot of ways actually even better than the old one. I've always said that what makes Bandaids Bandaids is the community, not the site. Does anyone even remember that BA actually started out as a Yahoo! group? From Day 1 the community was created for one reason and one reason only: Because it was a group of people who all loved Avril Lavigne and her music and it was a place for them to get together and talk about it and support her. We are still doing that 15 years later. It was an adjustment for some at first but at this point I think we've all come to love the site perfectly fine. Keep up the good work, we appreciate it.

Nothing else to add as Sam and Andrea summed everything up perfectly. Personally I'm much happier with hoe it is now and this little banner at the top and bottom aren't as big and annoying to me

TLDR; We wouldn't be here if the old staff didn't leave Bandaids to rot. I was a staff member back in the day, and had full access to the server and I can assure I didn't leave Bandaids to rot. Life just happens, I have two kids, work and sincerely can't spend several hours on a website like I used to when I was younger. She doesn't have time to do this anymore, plus Bandaids server was costing her THOUSANDS of dollars just to be able not to crash when all the members were online. That was the biggest lie in the world. I remember her saying that when I was a Super Mod and I was just like There's no way a server can cost that much. I know because I own a dedicated server myself. Let's just hope this is a change for the better. I never betrayed this website just like other people when given power, like the german dude who deleted an entire bandaids site . This guy was an admin, and got his privileges in like a couple months or so, just because he was friends with Lewis. Who are running this website now? edit: One is that the old BA took so damn long to fix their site issues that many people just left. One of the issues with the site was the number of addons that they set up. I remember one day when the website was running extremely slow. I logged onto the root shell and checked the server usage. The database server was using up 100% CPU. Checked the logs and found some slow queries. Added a couple indexes. Done. There was never a problem with the hosting itself or the software used. It was the lack of knowledge and inappropriate management.

No, but the rest of the staff did leave it to rot. They abandoned us. Sharifa stopped caring. All the higher ups at the time we could change the site didn't do anything.
