Let's be honest, not everyone has been receptive to the idea of getting a Christmas album but Avril recently revealed that she has three songs in the vault! What songs would you like her to cover? Genres? How many original songs do you think she'll write?

I'm not really a Christmas person in general, but I have warmed up to Xmas music since Kelly Clarkson's album last year. She gave it a theme (heartbreak) so it didn't really feel like I was suffocating on Christmas. I swear I'm not a grinch! So I'm looking forward to what Avril comes up with. She said she has three songs done so my theory is that those are original songs, not covers. I wonder if she wrote any of them during the time the picture above was taken.
I would like some jazz songs because her voice blends well with that style of music. I also would love some pop rock tunes like Run Run Rudolph is a must. That's my favorite. Another is Jingle Bells. Listen, I'm basic... This Christmas cover by Wham. And anything that's not too Christian/religious because those are depressing to me and played a lot IMO.
When will it be out? I predict somewhere in the next decade lol
A full album? I hope so. Go big or go home.

I really want her to make a Christmas album because she's wanted to do one her whole career.
I would like a mix. Half original songs, half covers. It would good if some of the covers had a poprock/punk reworking. I think Wham's Last Christmas would sound good like that. Others would be good more traditional, like ending on a pretty piano version of White Christmas

I would like the album to sound jazzy like Baby It's Cold Outside. Also, I wouldn't mind getting a cover of my favorite Christmas song - All I Want For Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey.

I would like a mix of originals and covers, traditional hymns and contemporary songs, classic arrangements and maybe more pop/rock leaning songs. I just hope whatever she does, she puts her own unique spin on it because every artist at this point has done a Christmas album. Hers needs to stand out or else it’s just another Christmas album.
If she does any originals, they need to be strong. Original Christmas songs are difficult to write and have them be good, and capture the feeling of Christmas, without being too schmaltzy. But I wouldn’t want too many originals. 1-2 is fine. The rest can be hymns or contemporary classics. I really think Rockin Around the Christmas Tree will be on there and is probably one of the ones she’s done already. Maybe she re-recorded O Holy Night as well and I think she’ll probably do Silent Night. I hope she includes BICO too because her version is perfect!

Ah I forgot the ones she already made. I think some will be rerecorded and included as bonus songs.

Just originals for me. Not a big fan of covers - all the big Christmas songs have like 500 versions already, I don’t need another. Though I’m not at all interested in a Christmas album from her in general..but it’s inevitable at this point lol.
If she’s gonna do it I want fun Christmas songs - things like Taylor - Christmas Tree Farm, Kids In Glass Houses - Secret Santa, The Darkness - Christmas Time. Not dull ones like she’s covered in the past.

I would like to have minimal of covers and maximal original songs. Her "Hello" cover was quite underwhelming although "How You Reminds Me" and "Adia" were highlight in the discography. Other than that, besides alternative rock, pop rock, folk and pop punk, the order arranged according to my liking, her voice in Jazz is heaven. I hope she would not miss out on that too.

I would want some original songs if she worked with good writers and wrote about ideas personal to her (memories of Christmas as a kid, how different Christmas feels in LA versus snowy Canada, stuff like that). I just think if she's going to do original Christmas songs, it can't be all "fun and partying" because while that works for her normal albums, I'm not sure it would for a Christmas one. If she wanted to do an original "party" song, I actually think it would be interesting if it was inspired by the Christmas party her and Mod just had with the Jam Fam... can you imagine:
Feldy's out on the deck smoking cigars / Mod and Travis are watching from afar / Amy and I are drinking wine / admiring the Christmas lights / we're the only ones decorating / I can't believe Mod's not helping / it's so annoying / he's not listening / I'll put black ornaments on my tree / if he wants he can add some lime green / later we'll play beer pong and do keg stands / and I gotta beat Feldy cause I'm mad / he made me do a million vocal takes / maybe I'll just push him in the fireplace / at least my album will be out soon / I need to throw Mod into the pool / he's still not listening to me / Travis is talking to Kourtney / I don't need more Christmas cheer / I just need another beer
I was gonna try to be serious but then I started having fun with it haha. A few songs like that (obviously with better writing) might be kind of fun and different. I personally would love to see this (based on the songs I like and the fact that I don't see her doing Rudolph or Frosty type songs, and slower songs to allow her voice to shine like they do in What Child Is This):
1. Rocking Around the Christmas Tree 2. Original upbeat song 3. Last Christmas 4. Mary Did You Know 5. Jingle Bells 6. White Christmas 7. Silent Night 8. Original mid tempo / power ballad 9. All I Want for Christmas Is You 10. Wonderful Christmastime 11. Deck the Halls 12. The First Noel 13. Carol of the Bells (instrumental, I would love her instrumental take on that)

I haven’t been the biggest fan of her previous Christmas songs as I don’t like the production or sound of them. I don’t like the traditional/jazzy/orchestral sounds when it comes to Christmas music. Anything acoustic, folksy, or rock is good for me. Even ballads as long as they’re not too traditional sounding. But I listen to poppy Christmas music mostly, so that is what I’d wish from Avril.
Anything other than old traditional style is good for me.

A mix of old and new would be cool! But please don't touch Last Christmas by Wham. That song must be only Wham! She has BICO and WCIT already done. I want a full album and I would be so proud and supportive since she wanted to do such album for a long time now! So indeed, go big or go home! I like the jazzy sound for this, and with Christmas bells in the songs. I've always loved the idea of a Christmas album by Avril!! That way we can also enjoy Christmas with her voice!!

I'd have one special dream request for a Christmas song to have Avril cover: "Christmas Wrapping" by the Waitresses. I think Avril could easily change it a bit to make it her own and still honor the original.
A little background on this song from Wikipedia:
"Christmas Wrapping" is a Christmas song by the American new wave band the Waitresses. It was first released on the 1981 compilation album A Christmas Record on ZE Records, and also appears on the Waitresses' 1982 EP I Could Rule the World If I Could Only Get the Parts and numerous Christmas holiday compilation albums.[1] It was written and produced by Chris Butler, with vocals by Patty Donahue.[2] The song received positive reviews and AllMusic described it as "one of the best holiday pop tunes ever recorded".
