The trailer for the new Alice in Wonderland sequel just came out a few days ago:
This is the sequel to the 2010 Tim Burton film Alice in Wonderland, which featured Avril's song Alice. So far it doesn't appear that they've asked Avril to do another song for the sequel. The trailer looks awesome though, I was a huge fan of the first movie (unpopular opinion, I know) and am very excited to see this next year. I really loved Tim Burton's interpretation of the Alice in Wonderland story.

Can't wait to see it! I also liked Tim's version of the story. I haven't read TTLG, but i will soon. And the actors and the animations are all spot on! It would be cool if Avril would make a song, but i doubt it

IMO it's even better than the original Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Such a great book.

I think Tim Burton is an artist who creates art with almost anything he does, but I'm really against Alice In Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, simply because the book series is one of the finest linterary work there is. I get that you need to put in some extra action to make this children's book a solid movie, but I hate hate hate it when they change a books plot to make it suitable for a movie. I didn't like the first movie because of all the changes they put in and I am very certain that I won't like the second one, either. By watching the trailer I can tell that there's very little left of what the book is actually about.

That they only take the concept and technically create a new version. I hate when a book turns into a movie, of the reason I've allready created my vision of it.

I totally get those who hate the movie because of how much they changed it. It's ok to me though. At least Burton is going all or nothing with it though, as Wonderland said, taking the concept and making a new version. I don't like it when films go halfsies and change details but still keep most of the story, I'm pretty sure that one of the Harry Potter movies was known for doing that, omitting a big chunk of the book (never read it or saw it so I don't know). Peter Jackson also ruined the Hobbit by doing that, changing way too many details. Alice is ok to me because it seems more like a new version, rather than a poor retelling of the original story. I'd rather see a new interpretation than a bad interpretation of the original.

You're not alone. I LOVED the first one as well. I haven't read the book, so I can only judge this work as a movie, which I've watched several times already, and it's great! They've also put together an amazing cast, and I'm really happy they're all back for this movie as well. Can't wait to see it next year!

Bumping this thread because I have just seen the movie today! Anyone else see it?
My thoughts:
- Visually it was very stunning, as always - The plot line was... ok. Like the original film, the story had absolutely nothing to do at all with the original book. Which is ok I guess, but... meh. It was basically just taking Lewis Carroll's characters and bringing a fanfic to the silver screen - It was by no means a bad movie for me, but I wouldn't say it was excellent or outstanding either. Just "alright." Perhaps that might have to do with the fact this film had a different director than the first? I don't know, but I really liked the first one a lot and this one was just "eh" so it could be - I still like the first film much more than the sequel - I don't really like the theme song Pink recorded for this film. I don't think it really suits the vibe of the film at all, the way "Alice" did for the first one (and I don't think I am saying that just because I'm an Avril fan)
Overall I probably give it 3/5 stars. I'd say go see it if you're an Alice in Wonderland fan and love anything to do with it, but if you're expecting an adaptation of the book, don't bother. It's got nothing to do with it or anything to do with the original Alice stories at all, which is kind of meh if you're a huge fan of them (the main reason probably why most people care to go see it in the first place).
What are everyone else's thoughts?

I missed it as normal. We had it 'normal' as 2D in the first week but now... I do not want to watch it in 3D, the prices for 3D movies are too high, I cannot afford to go to the cinema and always pay for 3D, the tickets to get to town and in town to the cinema...

I agree 3D is terrible too, I feel like it would hurt my eyes or give me a headache or make me feel nauseous or something. Perhaps you can buy it when it comes out on DVD or rent from iTunes/Amazon Prime/Netflix?
