I remember that my brother thought that the chorus of Don't Tell Me was in chinese... and really for a native-spanish speaker, the part of "Did you think that I was gonna give it up to you...." sounds like a "chingchangchongchingcha" ahahahahahaha Are you native-spanish speaker, Gabo?

So for awhile the pre chorus part of DTM really confused me as a kid because the phrasing is odd: "Well did I, not uh tell, you that I'm, not like that, girl the one who, gives it all away." I had trouble for the longest time understanding what the hell she was actually saying and English is my native language! I really do like the way she phrased that part though, it's very unique. ETA: Also, I always found the way she sang on the DTM recording was very mush-mouthed, especially the first verse. I remember somebody saying it sounded like she was chewing gum while singing. So it's not a surprise why no one could really understand the lyrics in this song.

In the second verse of Don't Tell Me, I have always found her pronunciation very weird, especially in this part :
I'm gonna ask you to stop, thought I liked you a lot, but I'm really upset Get out of my head get off of my bed yeah thats what I said Did I not tell you that I'm not like that girl, the one who, throws it all away
The way she pronunces "upset" and "throws" is weird to me, I had no idea she was actually saying these words until I saw the booklet.

I never understood that lyric line either. And to be completely honest, I still don't understand what she's meaning to say with that lyric.

In GYWYL, there is a part during and after the second time she sings the chorus, where you can hear a persistent sound, like piano is playing. But a bit different than the usual sound when piano is playing. I don't know how to describe it. It starts at 1:52. Can anyone tell me what instrument is played at that part, what is it that makes that sound in the background? thx for quoting my video

Related to GYWYL, did anyone figure out what Avril is saying in the back vocals during the bridge? I hear "In the words.. in the way." and after that I can't understand anything else. Here, starting at 1:00 you clearly hear: "Give you one more chance to hold me" I wonder what was the reason to put that reverse, sounds interesting

I think she's using a mobile as a metaphor for saying that her world is spinning out of control: "Everything's changing when I turn around, all out of my control, I'm a mobile," "Spinning around with mixed feelings, crazy and wild." She wrote the song after getting a record deal and her life was beginning to change.

She used this metaphor? or another person used this metaphor instead of Avril like a songwriter in the shadows? Many people thinks Avril don't wrote her songs. Or maybe "all out of my control, I'm a mobile" means that all the process of the music is out of the control of Avril, and Avril don't control a thing, and all the music and songwriting is made by other people, not Avril.

Well it was most likely Cliff Magness but we don't know anything for sure. Most likely many of the songs on LG were led by the other writers she worked with since the writing style is different than on her later albums, but we don't know exactly how much she contributed or how they collaborated together.

Si! Veo que usted también, no? De que parte eres? Yeah Avril is great when she sings a bunch of words so fast... like the chorus of He Wasn't or Take It... It was kinda hard for me at the beggining to learn the chorus of He Wasn't ... at first it was more like " He wasnt warawarawara though no..."
