It is kinda complicated to explain because the food in bosnia/croatia/greek/turkey etc. has a lot of similarities. It's the same with crepes. The americans have pancakes and the europeans have crepes (pannekake ). It's also very hard to say where they have their origin, because they exist in almost every country in europe and everybody eats them. (Fun fact: "kacke" actually means shit in german )

In the U.S., Pita is a type of flatbread. It's also cut and baked into crispy chips (crisps).
