^^ I'm ain't going around in circles in this thread that's for certain. That Avril discussing is simply for another day. If you want to state your opinion on UMS you can simply create a thread and I would love to discuss it with you. Are we arguing? I just thought we were passing opinions across like tennis. Poor Adele thread... Well all I've seen so far is that you've entered 2 artists' threads to basically put them down and talk about how there's other artists you think are better than them. That's bound to end up creating an argument at some point because their fans are going to defend them. If there's other artists you care to discuss, you could just make a separate thread and discuss them there rather than going into another artist's thread and talking about how this person is better than that person, or make a general music thread to talk about what you think is "real" music, etc. The Taylor thread went off topic because of that. There's no problem discussing these things, but I think it would be better to make a separate thread for it if that's what you want to discuss. Could you say that to the Adele thread? because I am sure someone is trying to state that Taylor is better and being negative towards Adele? like why would you bring up Taylor Swift in the Adele thread? I might think about creating one.

Yeah like I said in the Britney thread, if you think these other artists you like are so superior then make a thread for them. You're not going to convince us to change our tastes. Vice Versa. I was only expressing my opinions on how I see things within my own personal preference and experience and vice versa.

LOL I love Britney but seriously what is the point in a live album from her when she lip synchs most of the time and the few songs that aren't sound pretty bad? Britney is best experienced when watching her, not listening to her. And this is my point on the Taylor thread.

Yeah, but Laura Marling is not considered to be a technical, but the way Laura Marling sings is just breathtaking because she showcases her unique, distinctive and special in both studio and live performances. She doesn't need to be camouflage this within her performances and that’s true music, IMO. I accept my singers that I listen to, to sing it doesn't have to be perfect, but I desire to hear that rawness, emotion, uniqueness and artistic value of them compositions of the way they sing and that’s true art.
And also, why are you guys trying to say that I state that there have to sing amazing with amazing technical abilities, I'm sure I mentioned in my previous post that I look for.
“Singing is about different tones, breath, the style you sing, you can even speak poem what style, texture, resonance, vocal range and the most importantly the uniqueness ” It's just my music taste is very, very versatile.
I based my talent on my own personal preference like for everyone and I can express and defend my favourite artist because I believe that's the way music was meant for. Because everyone can perform their even made a video game about it, it's called “just dance”
But why should I not be on this forum? But you should know not everyone listens to mainstream pop so why did you assumes that everyone listens to mainstream because it's on a mainstream pop forum? Why mentioned Beethoven even though I adore Howard Shore talented composer. I follow this forum because of Avril "UMS" because that album was just amazing... But... To... Me...
Did I not state that I respected your opinion on the previous post? I didn't see you state that once to me. This might sound harsh or little negative because to me it did sound that within your post you don't look and appreciate the talent you would be happy to get influence within the pantomime.
You don't need to be a singer. You can easily get inspired and connect.
So you are accepting the instrumentals to be a high standard of talent so why not the singing because to me IMO the singing just as important because isn't the vocals an instrumental as well?
Yeah, but Avril back in the day I find intriguing, but she not the best of technical singer, but she has proven in the past she could showcase the range and emotion. Like I am pretty sure Taylor has decent performance in your opinions.
As a fan of Muse you should know the capabilities of his vocal range very huge... The falsetto/head voice, His mix belt and I would defiantly expect him to showcase his vocal range live because he dished them out in the studio. And muse wasn’t the only who created that set-list like he got involved in the instrumentals and the whole compositions he had a team. To me people should know him by his vocals and songwriting also the whole band there didn't go to see the set list there went to see him perform his talents. I personally think he would get a bad reputation if he didn't sing that good live, like if the instruments were wrong also.
And I would also appreciate that you stop assuming that I think every artist has to sing like Whitney in her prime.
I state that I stated you should expect 100% of your favourite artist to showcase the talents I don't expect everyone to be perfect live but showing that artistic value and that's what I look for and would expect everything to be done as the best of their abilities.

And sadly that was my point about being talented. That only the major of the majority of the world just appreciates people who can't sing and camouflage the bad singing by just performing. Ah we just have a difference of opinion then. I don't look for amazing vocals from pop stars (or any musician really) if I like the song then I'm happy. I don't look for amazing or technical ability in a singer live, just as long as the performance is good then I'm happy. I care more about the setlist and the quality of the band, even for singer/songwriters. I only look for good singing. I'm getting into Red now, looks like I'm working backwards haha. Not really a fan of her first album yet. I totally accept your opinion but I also I have mine. And sadly that just tells me you just don't really appreciate real music and talent and I did state the major majority and sadly your not the only one thinks that because the world is full of mediocre performances and singers oh I mean performers. So you are saying to me you're happy if an artist mimes? but if the songs good you are not bothered if that the case why are these artists singers then?

That is true, within a certain genre you mean like creating film soundtracks? and classic music? but that is a totally different genre I wasn't meaning that. I just barely listen to a musician who just perform within the music genre (pop, etc). Because there should just be a dancer or an actor and give that record deal to a person who can actually make great inspiring music within their voices to capture something so special.

I know I personally think it's going out of hand also. I even stated that I like some of Taylor songs she just at the end of the day she not my all time favourite artist. Do you like Laura Marling? Master Hunter is such an epic creation especially her album "Once I Was an Eagle" but this is going off topic this is a Taylor thread. Let's start this again. I ADORED her "RED" album so many great songs within the pop genre and like I stated before she writes them really well within her style. So what is you fav song on the red album?

Can't you just sit there using telepathic powers to communicate with the audiences? Yes, you do and sadly this what is wrong within this music industry their just concentrate on the marketable factor a really great way to make money. Singing is about different tones, breath, the style you sing, you can even speak poem what style, texture, resonance, vocal range and the most importantly the uniqueness you can't rely on autotune all the time because it's looks really bad when you sing live. Those lyrics you mentioned what does that prove I already stated that you personally think those lyrics are meaningful and distinctive but to me and the music I listen to sadly enough it's not that impressive, to me . I find other artists who have better storytelling. And again well done on Taylor if she captures hearts, getting a compliment on Dolly Parton must have been a dream come true, especially to a titan songwriter because I find her to be more amazing, I absolutely love Dolly and old classic country music it wasn't about the mainstream image it was true heartbreaking stories her narrative flow about being poor and that's powerful songwriting "Coat Of Many Colors" Now it's my turn (My personal preference) Laura Marling "Devil's Spoken"She wipes the floor with the creativity and style, the storytelling wow such a groundbreaking artist and piece of inspirational art. Even her music video was more impressive all of Taylor videos especially the ones with all the male supermodels what's that about? and you say she the best on her pop genre but these two women create music there are both musicians. I am showing you guys Laura Marling because she currently one of my favourite inspirational artists that inspires me within my own songwriting but sadly Taylor not even on my radar because I find her creativity not that inspiring sadly, but to me. About her selling arenas that just proves my point she mainstreams and overrated. Again to you she shows emotions but to me again I am keep saying this I find some most artist who has all the package are sadly better than Taylor but to me. PS, even Avril is ten times better than Taylor her LG and UMS albums were just wow in my eyes.

Firstly, I totally respect your opinion and your personal preferences I can see you are a fan of Taylor. Secondly, I didn't state that I don't like Taylor I just have a passion for the people who have a stronger love for music who sadly don't get the same intentions. You need to sing to create music and the most important thing you defiantly need to sing if you want to see your favourite artists perform. I didn't say she can't sing at all, she just can't sing that well live like others and also you need to sing to express emotion. The stupid thing about it, I wasn't trying to say she had no talents, I was just trying to say IMO that sadly she mainstream covered up her original genre her country style, and IMO she doesn't have bounds of creativity like others I listen to.
Again, your opinion you state she is a good songwriter because to me she's not that creative again, I'm not saying she is a crap songwriter, I am just saying and expressing IMO there are a lot better artists who can write better, better inspirational stuff instead of being all about her love life. And IMO she writes them well within her style. She not extraordinary, she not distinctive, she not unique but that just within my eyes and the music I listen. Personally I think you are on a defensive of Taylor and there is not wrong with that because who wouldn't defend their favourite artists? If your music taste is pretty broad why are we having this conversation because you should already know the art of independent music? I wasn't being judgemental I was just trying to give you guys some advice let you guys go deeper within the creative and talented music that is out there because you sounded that you were really impressed with her songwriting because I just don't see it. I actually did listen to her "RED" album and it turned to be on of my guilty pleasures. I just don't like how other artists who can perform, sing and write better doesn't have her success. That what I am trying to state I would love her even more if she not as mainstream like her country albums. I actually adored a song called, "safe and sound" ft "The Civil Wars" One of my fav duo's and all to well was good also. If I was being judgemental, I am sorry if it came across that way. Just expressing my opinion.

Yeah, I just hardly don't listen to pop music I find it more commercial than talent very mainstream. But all I was saying is that artists who have actual talent don't even get recognized and success their deserves.

TBH, I think you guys need to widen your music genre a little? if you think Taylor Swift is a good songwriter. And she only wins awards because her albums become even more mainstream every year. She doesn't have bounds of creativity such as artist like Larua Marling, Emmy Lou Harris, Joni Mitchell even Dolly Parton also Leona Lewis can sing like a titan and have massive of talents she has more talent than Taylor because she can actually... sing. I don't see her winning a grammy? if you are basing it on the talent of Taylor winning awards. I personally prefer an artist who is under the radar even people on SoundCloud have bounds of creativity and talent than Taylor.
