I really liked that interview, even though there wasn't any news in it. But Avril seemed clearly uncomfortable speaking about Lyme. She first said something about "health problems" and only after a bit of hesitating actually said "Lyme disease". I'm glad that guy didn't ask her to say more about it and that the interview quickly turned into another, happier direction. Avril seemed really content and relaxed then. She's so cute. I also really love her outfit.

Laws are different in each country. In Germany, it's extremely strict when it comes to copyrights. Spreading illegal download links (whether you're the one who uploaded the copyrighted material or not) is definitely not allowed. Heck, YouTube is already difficult enough. A certain legal site where you can read and download old books (1900 and older) whose copyright has expired has been completely shut down in Germany just because of a dozen apparently illegally uploaded books (it's being argued whether they've actually been uploaded illegally or not).
But I'm drifting off. My point is that Bandaids' and ProBoard's rules strictly say that you may not post copyrighted material or links to such stuff or ask for any of this. I'm sure they have their reasons. If you can't accept this rule, then maybe Bandaids is not the place for you.

Even though I'm a bit bummed about the original HAW thread being closed now, I totally understand it. Posting download links for copyrighted material and asking for such links is against forum rules. And it's not just out of respect to Avril to refrain from such things, Bandaids and ProBoards could actually end up in legal trouble (as far as I know). I just hope the thread will be opened again at some point. I'm also a little bummed about this thread. I thought it was about HAW flavoured tea. Sorry for the confusion hahaha haha no problem, I was just joking.

I dreamed about "Dumb Blonde" AGAIN wtf?! This time, it was completely different from what I'd expected. It was some sort of thoughtful and hopeful piano ballad, bit like WYG, but with a soul vibe.

Avril the police officer. Really like those pics. Thanks for posting! Btw, is my memory deceiving me, or has it really been several years since we got a huge photoshoot like this? I wouldn't call this huge you're forgetting the Billboard photoshoot which has way more pics and looks ☺️ Ah, I had a feeling I'd forgotten about something.

Is it just me or does the article seem a bit confusing at times? Like the writer lost her concentration a bit?
Anyway, it's still a really nice interview, and the new photo is absolutely stunning.

It's getting really boring that it's always the same 3 songs that end up in the top 3. But I hadn't expected anything else anyway. I do hope it will change with the next rating, though, when we'll finally have a bunch of new songs. I used to find IWY alright, but never really got the hype over it. I still don't really get the hype, but I do like the song more now. I never would've put it in the top 10, though. I just find that it drags on somewhat. Like, after the first verse and chorus I just wait for the bridge and outro, I hardly care about verse 2 and chorus 2. It's definitely my favourite song live, though. MHE is a great song, objectively speaking. But I personally find it pretty meh at the moment. I can't connect to it and I guess I overplayed it in the past. Never would've put it in the top 10 either. NH is one of my all-time favourite songs by Avril. I love the topic, it's relatable, the melodies and instruments are great, Avril's vocals are great. Some of the lyrics may be a bit simple, but I think in this case it fits, just like the simple 4-chord progression. BUT there are songs that I prefer over NH, e.g. HAW, "Darlin", "Everybody Hurts", "Nobody's Fool". I guess NH is top 10 worthy for me, but not top 3. On a diffetent note, even if I often disagree with the results, I love seeing how everyone here has different opinions about each song. It just goes to show that not a single song has been released in vain. There's always at least one person who loves even the least popular song. I'm also really happy that we got to do this rating once again. Every year, it's what I look forward to the most here on Bandaids. I'm already looking forward to 2019's rating. So, thanks to the admins and moderators and everyone else who made this happen.

Wow, I could hardly disagree more. I've never been able to really get into "Don't Tell Me". It just kind of sounds too much the same throughout until the bridge finally kicks in, but everything else is more or less a straight, horizontal line to me. I probably would've put it somewhere around top 50 or top 60. I do like the message, though. "Keep Holding On" is imo the best ballad off TBDT, but definitely not as good as some of Avril's other ballads. It's just... idk. I've just never really felt it. Also, somehow it feels a lot like a wedding song to me. "Complicated" is a great song, but currently not one of my favourites. I guess I just overplayed it. There are other songs by Avril that I probably listened to even more often in my life, yet I still love them. So yeah, great song, but I wouldn't have put it that high in the rating. WYWH is totally overrated imo. The emotion is great and those high backing vocals in the last chorus are damn amazing, wow! But the rest is just so meh. I used to dislike the lyrics, now I find them okay, but not more. The melody is too repetitive. And the drums, I really hate those drums. They sound so fake. I definitely prefer the acoustic or any live version of WYWH, but I still wouldn't have put it neary that high in the rating. "Innocence" and "When You're Gone" are also both totally overrated. They're both really cheesy, especially WYG, the entire sound is - as on nearly all TBDT songs - too high-pitched, and the lyrics just don't really do anything for me. I get what WYG is about, of course. But even though I've recently lost my dog, as I stated before, I just can't really connect to WYG. I never really understood what "Innocence" was supposed to be about. I would've put both songs somewhere around top 70, I guess. Surely my least favourite ballads. The only song I am really happy and surprised about it "Head Above Water". I know a lot of fans really love this song, but somehow I hadn't dared hope for it to get such a good rating. I myself absolutely love this song. I can really relate to it, despite hardly being religious. Avril's vocals are really great, as are the backing vocals in the last chorus. I also really love this little string/guitar (?) part at the end of each chorus (sounds a bit like a pick slide). It's just one or two seconds, but damn, it's so good. The only thing that still annoys me a little bit are the acoustic guitars in the first verse, they just sound way to "clear", like a photo that's been sharpened to the point where all you see is white noise. But everything else about this songs totally makes up for it. And how can I possibly give a song that always makes me cry like a waterfall less than 10/10? 💙 Btw, does that leave IWY, MHE, and NH once again??

Yes, I love "Take Me Away" and "Fall To Pieces"! Glad to see them in the top 20.
I used to love "Smile" but by now it's kinda meh to me. I also don't like the general sound of it, it all sounds a little high-pitched somehow.
"I Will Be" is so, so overrated. I hardly like it at all, it's so cheesy, drags on, and Avril's vocals sound too high-pitched. I gave it 4/10.
"Hush Hush" is a really nice ballad, but honestly, the piano disappoints me a little. I'd just expected a little more from David Hodges. I still enjoy it a lot overall, but I definitely wouldn't have put it in the top 20.
"Everybody Hurts" is one of my all-time favourites. Simple lyrics, simple melody, but so incredibly emotional, it always makes me cry.
"Sk8er Boi" is another of my favourite songs, it's just so much fun, despite the slightly Disney-ish vibe.
"Give You What You Like" could've been better if it had some kind of highlight. Maybe some heavier drums and some electric guitars in the last chorus or something. Also, those lyrics with the cigarette ("I'll give you one last chance to hold me, if you give me one last cigarette") have always annoyed me a little. Idk, I just don't like them. But that's the only criticism I have, otherwise the song is really good, definitely one of the best off AL.
I used to find "Slipped Away" quite meh. Very good instruments, but the lyrics are just too simple. In addition to that, I've always found it very difficult to relate to, never having lost anyone in my family or friends or sth. (fortunately). But that changed last year, when the vet unexepectedly found a very fast growing tumor in our dog's mouth. Our dog lived for 6 more weeks, then we had to euthanize him. He was only 10 years old, which really isn't old for a Spitz. I know it's just a dog, but to us he really was like a family member. He was such a funny fur ball, was always there when we needed him, always made us smile. He was something like a therapy dog to us, especially to my mum. And then, all of a sudden, he was gone. So when I listened to "Slipped Away" before this rating (which was also the first time I listened to it after out dog died), it just hit me right in the feels. After all these years, I could finally relate to the song more than ever before. God, how I cried! Since then, I really love "Slipped Away". I'm really positively surprised about its averagely high rating, though. Hadn't expected that at all, I thought it was quite unpopular because of the simple/bad lyrics.

"Things I'll Never Say" is a really nice song, very easy to listen to. I think it's a bit similar to "Mobile" in that way. And it's also something that's quite perfect for car rides. It's not one of my favourites, though.
"Hello Heartache" could be one of the best songs of Avril's career, but her weird accent annoys me so much, ugh. Such a shame. Why did she have to do that?? On a positive note, I absolutely love the "la la la"s and the synths.
"Tomorrow" keeps switching between being nice and kinda meh to me. But mostly I would say it's nice. Just not much more to me. Dunno, I guess I just find it kinda hard to connect to it or something? Haha I really don't know. It's a good song, but I wouldn't have put it so high in the ranking.
"Who Knows" is really great, I love everything about it except for the chorus, which I find melodically too repetitive (just keeps switching between G and C chords) and lyrically kinda bland. "Do what you do, just keep on laughing". Hmmm... okay. Still, overall it's at least 8/10 to me.
"Girlfriend" is one of the few songs off TBDT I really enjoy. It's just so much fun. Maybe wouldn't have put it that high in the ranking, though.
"Anything But Ordinary" is amazing, fantastic lyrics, fantastic melody. I especially love the line "somebody rip my heart out and leave me here to bleed". I take it to mean that Avril would rather be kicked around by others than trying to fit in and be like everyone else. Rather be the outcast than one of these bland people who just follow the "cool kid".
"Remember When" is one of the strongest songs off GL imo. Fantastic piano, emotion, and the bridge with those high vocals (especially the harmonies, wow!) - amazing. The chord progression is just a bit to meh for me. Basically just the same four chords again and again and again. And some of the lyrics are really lame. "I told you everything, you know my feelings" or "[...] what a big surprise". Those are imo some of the worst lyrics Avril's ever written. Fortunately, there are some really great lyrics in this song, too. I've always loved the line "These feelings, I can't take no more, this emptiness in the bottom drawer".
"Losing Grip" is another great song and a good album opener, but it's not one of my favourites. It's mostly that last chorus that bugs me a little, it just drags on too much. I'm still happy it nearly reached top 20. Somehow I thought it was rather underrated, maybe because I rarely see people talk about it...
"Together" and HYRM are both 10/10 for me. "Together" is just so wonderfully dramatic and powerful. The backing vocals in the last pre-chorus, damn, they really add something to the whole thing. And the outro with the almost screamed "together... together... together, no... together..." and then ending on that feedback, fantastic!
HYRM is Avril's best cover to date. It's so different from the original, but I love it so much more. The piano and drums are pure magic and Avril's vocal performance is one of her best to date.

I mostly agree with that rating. I just would've put "Not Enough", "He Wasn't", and "Hot" higher, both are 10/10 for me. NE is so emotional and has amazing drums and one of the best, most powerful outros ever. HW is simply really fun and aggressive, I've always loved it. "Hot" is definitely the best song off TBDT. The instruments and vocals are simply pure magic.
I can't believe HTNGU is supposed to be better than songs like "Darlin", TMTA, "Naked", "Alone", "Get Over It", HDIF, basically half the songs that Avril ever put out. It's just kinda lame imo. The autotuning is too excessive, the gang vocals are a little annyoing, and the lame-ass drums are the worst. The lyrics, meh, used to love them, but I feel like I've outgrown them by now. Something about this song also feels too slow somehow... idk it just kinda drags on.
