OMG THE NEW ALBUM IS SOOOO GOOD! Had it on repeat all week. Seems like an evolution of Hayley's first solo album.
Liar is my favourite, which is strange for me as I usually prefer upbeat songs, but theres something in Liar that's simply beautiful. Wasn't keen on The News upon first listen but now it's my favourite head banger on the album.

I don't dislike it but it's not something I get back to often I think. My least favorite is The News. The beginning of the song sounds too annoying for me (sorry lrb22, you seemed to love that one). But I don't know. I think Paramore is a band that isn't connecting with me anymore like they used to, and that's okay. It's not bad but just not really my thing anymore. |

Honestly, I feel there was a little confusion with the direction to take for sound. It seems to me like Paramore really wanted a slower and more relaxed album about more self-growth and trying to find a healthy balance to cope with struggles. The album reminded me of Fleetwood Mac, which I know is an influence for Hayley, and Flowers for Vases by Hayley.
The odd ones out, as much as I love and resonate with them, are C’est Comme Ça and The News. The lyrics and sound are very Paramore, but I don't think they belong on This is Why. Even the title song seems to fit in a lot better than CCC and TN.
It makes me wonder if they changed the sound of these two songs to please fans that prefer their older sound. Or maybe they wanted to see if This is Why could go in that direction but were not happy with the overall project and switched directions.
My favorites so far are You First, Figure 8, Running Out of Time, and Thick Skull. These songs have come out at a perfect time for me because I am struggling with personal growth and all that fun stuff. I felt called out with Running Out of Time cause that week, my intern supervisor brought up my time management struggles LOL.
Current rating: 8.5/10. One of their best albums lyrically in my opinion.

I listened to the album once. I'm not gonna lie, I wanted to enjoy it more because I loved the singles but I'm not surprised that I ended up not feeling it. Someone mentioned it sounded like Hayley's solo stuff and it does.
Here's my faves:
This Is Why - LOVE
The News - Love
The French song - catchy! The spoken word was a bit of a turn off but I just jam to the chorus.
Firgure8 - still learning it but I raise the volume when it comes on shuffle and also play it on purpose.i like that it's heavier rock
Running out of time- my elastic favorite of the singles
You first - still learning it but the lyrics do stand out a lot
