I've got a question about Avril, I'm too lazy to find/hear all old interviews but how would you discribe her?
is she shy, introvert and more kind of an emo person or not?
I want to have more things in common with her.

I want to have more things in common with her. In her really old interviews like LG era she was incredibly awkward in interviews and would look down a lot or only give one word answers. I think it was due to just being a moody teenager and being in the spotlight but she honestly would even come off as bitchy sometimes in those interviews.  UMS era onwards she got a lot better and became more talkative but she has described herself as being a shy person, especially with meeting new people, and even the people who interview her say they are surprised at how shy and quiet she is. |

Believe it or not, a lot of performers are shy off stage, including myself. Something about the stage brings us out of our shells I guess.

I suppose the keyword is "performance". The artist is putting on a show and so the audience see an exaggerated version of the person, almost like a character. As BogoGog24 said, a lot of performers are in fact shy people. I think that in a small way it shows with Avril. Pretty much every concert I go to there is some form of dialogue between the artist and the audience, where the singer for example asks questions from the people at the front of the audience or perhaps they will tell a funny story or something like that. Don't quote me on it since I haven't seen her live since TBDT, but I don't think Avril does that very often and perhaps that is her shyness coming through.

Given the lack of things to talk about, I thought this should be its own thread. While we discourage making too many new threads, you don't have to use Random Avril Discussion for like everything.
Anyway, Avril is kind of an enigmatic person. Sometimes she's shy and reserved, other times she's more bubbly and friendly, sometimes she's playfully bitchy, sometimes she's cold to the point of being rude. Granted, there's no reason why shy people can't have other aspects to their personalities (I'm very shy, but God help you if you assume I'm a pushover). But not knowing her personally makes it impossible to tell if shes a shy person with a bitchy side, or a bitchy person with a shy side or whatever.

I want to have more things in common with her. Don't concern yourself with things like this. Often peoples attitudes/behaviours can subconsciously rub off on you, but don't set out to be like someone else, just be yourself - you'll be happier that way in the long run  I'm a grown ass man and really have very little in common with Avril but that's fine I'm still here, I'm still a fan... And yeah as bongo said shy people often change on stage, I'm terribly shy and I normally avoid strangers as much as I can when I'm just going about my daily life and I feel physically sick until the second I start to perform on stage.... but then when I do start performing I feel great doing it and talk and joke with the audience etc |

As far as I know, Avril has never been booed off the stage. Performing to thousands and thousands of people who totally adore you surely makes it a lot easier. Not EASY, but easier. |

Guess the worst feeling when they hire local bands to sing some cover songs in some bar or restaurant where everyone talks, drinks, eats and couldn't care less about them . I always feel bad for them haha

I couldn't have said better myself  And it could also be said about her music, between being "funny" and "serious" with a leaning towards the first. Believe it or not, a lot of performers are shy off stage, including myself. Something about the stage brings us out of our shells I guess. It's all about confidence, I suppose. I'm not a performer or anything, but I can tell that I tend to "get loose" easier when I do certain things I'm comfortable with or that I like/love. I'm usually very shy/intimate person, but I can start talking/interacting with someone if I share some interest with that person; for instance, being an Avril fan, which doesn't happen often in "real life". And I'm sure that if I had the talent to be a musician (singer and/or instrument player), I'm sure I would also be excited and leave the shyness out. But I would also be awkward and shy off stage and when interacting with possible fans |
