I’m curious, why exactly do you think 1989 is better than Reputation? Or that she will never top 1989? Awards and recognition aside. To be honest I’ve always felt like Reputation was her best. I just think 1989 was really something special and new for her. IMO the album is as close to perfection as it gets and it’s a very cohesive project. I have a lot of good memories associated with that album. Rep is a good album, but it’s very dark, which is not her usual style. Some of the songs IMO are nothing super special, that any pop singer could have done like Ready for It. The production is a bit basic maybe? Not a bad album by any means, I just prefer 1989 more. Everything about that album and era was pretty much perfect to me. Rep I think lacked a little in creativity with the music videos apart from LWYMMD, the concepts were so bland and the dark coloring looked the same on every video. Fair enough. I guess I liked the dark theme and her whole attitude and approach because to some extent her whole career she's been pretty whiny in her music. I LOVE her earlier stuff and I'm a huge fan of hers to this day, but I always had this vibe of weakness from her, maybe it's just me. And with Rep I felt like she broke through that. I was so happy to see her be a badass bitch who takes shit from no one. Like Andrea said, "I'm so proud of you for taking the shitbag of shit they gave you and turning it into this" haha

I don't see the darkness in Rep. I see a strong woman that doesn't care what anyone says about her anymore and living her secret romance out of the public eye. Plus the slytherin dark queen look is cool.

I get why she invented the dark image for rep but I also think it looked a bit fake and put on, like she was playing a character (Ready for It, IDSB). Which Taylor herself said she kind of did, it was like a character she invented or a wall she put up to protect herself. To me it was a little too disingenuous looking and her trying to look like she’s this badass bitch when she was previously the girl in princess prom dresses singing songs about fairytale love. It didn’t look believable and like she was trying too hard to be something she really isn’t. Her image now during the Lover era was a return to form from her and feels more genuine to her real self.

Agreed, Lover is the most Taylor Swift thing she's ever done, it's like all of her past albums combined.

For me, T Swizz at her purest was Fearless/Speak Now. Purest? Like in innocent or like her most honest and real? Because I think the same, well sort of. Fearless/Sparks Fly were so organic compared to the production in 1989 and Rep. But I very much love the pop superstar she turned into after Red. Poor red though, I feel like it doesn't get as much recognition because of it was half old Taylor to new Taylor. Red is like a bridge between 2 very distinct stages in Taylor's career. Very insightful points. I guess I mean, and this is probably true for most artist including Avril, that her essence is the most apparent in her earlier stuff. I’m like you in that I love all her work. And like Bogo I think 1989 is a timeless pop masterpiece. I think a lot of people who discovered TS through that album may have been surprised if they explored her earlier discography. She was so innocent back then. Have you ever seen Ajayll’s stuff? She’s funny but pretty accurate. Here’s her take on young Taylor. She critiques all of her stuff. Worth checking out if you have any free time. (Duh, 😋).

I think she just wanted people to believe her relating to Kanye West. I guess it was her way dealing with all that. She didn't feel good and I think she wanted to show this in her darker looks. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- But I am happy for her that the thruth about Kimye came out and I really would like to know who leaked the phone call in full. But due to coronavirus only her fanbase really seems to care about it. It's not really a big thing in the media. When I think about how much hate Taylor got back in 2016 and how much it affected her and her career...

Rumor is it was Kris Jenner because the Kardashians are starting a new season soon and due to coronavirus getting all the headlines, they needed something for attention I guess. Again - purely a rumor. But who else would be in possession of the full recording other than Kanye and Kim themselves?

Yeah, reputation was playing a character, but the character that people thought she was: the crazy girl, serial dater and these things are explained so well in the first part:
knew i was a robber first time that he saw me, stealing hearts and never saying sorry i know what they say, but i'm not tryna to play i've been breaking hearts long time, toying with them old guys just to play things for me to use
but even the whole Gorgeous talks about falling in love but in the way people thought she did at the time, in fact the whole song is so overdramatic: sink and drowning and die, you're so cool that makes me hate you so much, the bridge.
But like she described the album, rep is falling in love, finding the real love through the darkness. Conceptually it's her best, it's a journey and if you think that Lover is her most herself album, well, without rep would have never been any Lover. Even if i think many Lover songs are rep rejects, the subject is mainly the same and there's the reason why i dont like it that much.

Just as I predicted, Lover Fest has been canceled until 2021. All Taylor’s remaining performances for the year have been canceled. I guess they’re going to try to reorganize them for 2021.

I find it strange that details were still never really given about what Lover Fest was actually going to be. Presumably it was going to include a lineup of multiple artists with Taylor headlining, but it was never announced who the other artists were going to be. It was not known if she was going to perform a short setlist like she would in a multi-artist festival lineup, or if she would get a full length setlist. The whole thing was kind of strange to begin with. There was not a lot of information about it as though they were figuring it out as they went along.

I can't listen to this song but I had to when she sits down on a piano and sings it all herself. Talented af. Add in the fact that this song is very personal and hard to even talk about before and now she sang it.

I was surprised that she sang it, I thought maybe she would sing either Lover or Daylight, but this one makes perfect sense. I think this is the only time she will ever perform it.

I also think this answers your question on why the Lover tour info was so vague. It was all dependent on how Andrea ( her mom) responds to treatment.

Maybe that’s true, but I think they wouldn’t have even organized the festival at all if that were the case. It’s a huge event they’re putting on, even if it was only 4 US shows. We know that’s why the dates were limited. But there’s a lot of planning that goes on, stadiums booked a year in advance. They had to have some idea what they were doing. The uncertainty of her mom’s health was the reason the dates were limited, but that wouldn’t prevent them from announcing the artist lineup or any other basic event info.
