I have been thinking recently about this and I wonder if anyone else thinks it’s possible that YLM isn’t actually about Joe at all but maybe Jake Gyllenhaal? Like what if all this time fans have been shitting on Joe because of what the song says and it turns out it’s not even about him at all?
She wrote the song in early December 2021, which would have been just right after the release of Red (TV) and all the promotion surrounding the ATW short film. I just think it’s highly possible she was thinking about that relationship considering she just rereleased that album and was focusing on a whole short film around it. Some of the lyrics could make sense in the context of Jake and share parallels with ATW.
“I tried to be the bravest soldier” —> “I’m a soldier who’s returning half her weight”
“I’m the best thing at this party” —> he didn’t show up at her 21st birthday party
“I wouldn’t marry me either” —> the rumor in the media was Taylor wanted to marry/thought she’d marry Jake
Some of the lyrics point more to Joe for sure, but I was also thinking about these parallels with Jake and I just wonder if fans are hating on Joe because of a song that may not even actually be about him at all. It’s just a bit odd Taylor would write a breakup song about Joe but keep it hidden for so long, then go on to release an album where he helped write one of the songs and some of the songs are dedicated to him like Lavender Haze, Snow on the Beach, Labyrinth, and Mastermind, etc. Then they were seen together after Midnights came out, so even if they had some issues it seems like they were resolved by then. Idk it’s just odd. We’ll likely never know who it’s actually about.

I think this was sthe beginning of TPD and they were going through a bad rough patch and maybe did break up briefly then got back together and midnights happened

And with it releasing 6 weeks after break up I think it was originally aart of TPD and after the breakup she decided let me just release this since I know the fans are hungry for a break up song now or something.

So all the bonus tracks are 'The' something. The Manuscript, The Bolter, The Albatross. Wonder how many there will be My guess is at least 4 by maybe even 5 or 6. 6 versions for 6 years with Joe?

Aah I’ve bought The Bolger version and then came to know about The Albagross which has a better cover I think. I don’t know but all those versions kinda suck. I get it, and they sell and probably a lot of fans are buying everything but I’ll stick to buying one. It’s just kinda lame there’s a gap between the time you can order them. And maybe they’re added later than the original release date in streaming services… so you can’t hear the others if you have a certain version yourself.

I learned with Midnights there’s no need to buy anything before release day. They say the versions are limited but they’re always all put up at once on her website on release day. So you can definitely just wait to see which version you like best before ordering. And most likely all the tracks will be uploaded to YouTube or Spotify/Apple Podcasts like they did with YLM and Hits Different before they came to streaming. It will probably be awhile before they get released on streaming to encourage people to buy the physical copies.
Also I think you can cancel your order if you want to get the other version instead. I’ve heard of other fans doing that if a different edition comes out that they like better.

Idk if this is a controversial opinion but I’m really hating these surprise song mashups lol I hope they stay firmly in Australia I kind of get it. I think the mashups were cool at first but they’ve kind of lost their novelty now that she’s doing it every show. I think this is something that she’ll only do for the remaining shows before she picks back up in Europe because trying to create 2 different mashups per night is really hard and a lot of work. I think she’s just doing it because it’s another way of challenging herself but also giving something special to the fans, since she’s already played a lot of these songs anyway, it’s sort of a new twist on them and something that will make each show feel special and unique. I wish she’d just play some of the songs she hasn’t played at all yet, like there’s still several Fearless and Red vault tracks she hasn’t performed yet, or stuff from debut, Midnights 3AM, etc. The choice of the mashups is interesting though, last night it was Is It Over Now/I Wish You Would, and Haunted/Exile. It’s an interesting way for her to draw connections between her own songs that tell similar stories or have a similar vibe. And I think her choice of some of the surprise songs might be setting us up for the general tone or subject matter of TTPD.

I think what worries fans about the limited vinyls is that while Midnights and 1989tv (to a lesser degree) had all variants available again after the album releases, that was not the case for folklore which had more variants and were all announced/available for preorder together at the same time rather than one at a time. And the folklore variants did not come back.
Even Speak Now TV had the limited Violet vinyl (the first variant to be announced) and it didn’t come back after the album was released.
There’s arguments to be made that these limited vinyls aren’t truly limited but also arguments to be made that they are. This time around for TTPD, I’m honestly getting the feeling that the limited editions are going to be limited. At least to a degree. Because this time it’s not just vinyl variants, but also a CD and cassette variant for each edition. I don’t know if I see all three media formats for each variant becoming available again after the initial preorders.
The vinyls maybe. But I don’t see the cassettes coming back. And the CDs come with additional items which makes me think that the CDs may come back but without the extra items.

I think The Albatross cover is my least favorite so far. It detracts from the theme created by the other covers which were centered around a bed while The Albatross appears to be in front of a body of water.
Perhaps the body of water is one of the lakes in the Lake District, a reference to the poets. So it may very well tie in well with the album, but visually it detracts from the first two covers and makes me not like it as much.

The collector's editions with the extra stuff included most likely aren't coming back, but I think the CDs themselves will (it happened with Midnights and 1989) and maybe the vinyls too. She's not going to miss an opportunity to sell more copies of an album, especially because she most likely wants to break her own record with physical sales. Folklore might have been a different case because there were 8 editions, which is a lot, whereas Midnights, 1989, and possibly TTPD only had 4 or so. And folklore was during the pandemic and maybe they did not have the resources to manufacture more. The thing with folklore was all 8 editions were made available at once so we could at least see what we wanted to buy first. All the others since then have been dropped one at a time. I think her team would be smart enough to know that for fans who are only going to buy one edition and waiting to see what they want to buy, they will make all editions available again after they're each revealed because some might miss out on buying it entirely otherwise. It'd be different I think if they were all made available at once.

If there does end up being a Target vinyl, I just hope it’s not red colored. It would be so out of place with this album’s color scheme.

Idk if this is a controversial opinion but I’m really hating these surprise song mashups lol I hope they stay firmly in Australia I LOVE the mashups! Some of them are sooo good like Maroon x Forever and Always or Would've Could've Should've x Ivy. It also make me sooo exited for the European dates cause surely she will find another way to make the European Tour special. I thought for Australia and Europe she would basically just copy the US tour but there will be a new album and she always comes up with a surprise!
