In my personal view she communicates with respect to fans, she keeps up to work on the studio and a few weeks ago she sent that message to us. I don't see what else she does. If she prefers not to announce anything a reason will be there

Someone mentioned a while back that she's in a lose-lose situation with her fans at this point. She says nothing, she gets flak for it. She says something, she gets flak for it because we're still waiting for the music. I mean, what would a professional-sounding update and apology really achieve? Within a month or so we'd just be back to complaining about waiting.

All we need is a solid release date!! That would clear up SO much confusion. And the minute she realised it wasnt going to make it out this year (I think she's known for a while) the decent thing would have been to communicate that with us!
Look, I'm not going to sit here and say I'm done with her and this is the final straw, because that would be lying. I'll take whatever music she puts out no matter how long it takes. But it definitely makes me question everything she says now and definitely will be taking all further updates with a grain of salt.

"Sorry guys, but the album is delayed until next year" would cut it. Communicate, show fans who have patiently waited through delays for 3 albums now a bit of respect. It's really not a lot to ask and I don't know why excuses are being made for her for the third album running. If it's "just how she is" she needs to buck her ideas up pronto

She is contracted, there are strict agreements in the contract she has to fulfill. There must be settlements about the deadline(s) too. Maybe she couldn't made it and had to make other settlements and compromises with the label again, that's why the delay happened. But she has to move around in a given date, so she must knew there won't be any albums this year earlier. There are loads of legal positions operating in the background. And all I ask for is some honesty and fair play and that's all.

Am I the only one who sees the irony of fans getting mad at her because she said an album would be released this year but it didn’t happen, so they don’t feel they can trust her word, but still want another update from her? Honestly what difference would it make if she said something or not? We all already know the album is coming out next year. It doesn’t change the fact we have to still wait. As Alex said, I think she would get a lot of angry comments for it and I can see why she wouldn’t want to deal with that. Maybe she doesn’t think she will be able to release it next year, maybe she needs to wait for official confirmation from BMG because they need to plan out their next quarter of releases and they need to figure out where she will fit in. There’s loads of things that go on BTS that we don’t know about and could be the reason she isn’t saying anything. No matter how much you want her to say anything, she probably won’t. So continuing to whine about it really doesn’t accomplish anything. We’re not “making excuses,” we’re just trying to be understanding as to why maybe she hasn’t said anything and not act like she’s the worst person in the whole world because she hasn’t given us some pointless update. As Alex said, even if she said something actually concrete, we’re still back at square one. I don’t get exactly what it would accomplish. The only part I agree with is that the fans deserve some honesty and because she did say this year and we haven’t heard anything, that she should maybe confirm it’s delayed and inform us of what’s going on, but she already more or less said that in her last update and I’m not going to hold my breath for something she’s not likely to deliver. We don’t know what she has planned up her sleeve. She could be getting the first single ready and is maybe planning to announce something this Christmas, maybe release a buzz single with an announcement about the album for next year, maybe a release date. I’d wait till the end of the year to see if she says anything before writing her off. But the way I look at it is you’re free to feel what you feel and be mad but you can either continue to complain about the same thing, or you can just face facts she’s not going to deliver what you want and just deal with it.

Each to their own. I just don't see why we should all be so accepting of her silence every time she says something and doesn't deliver. I don't see a clear update as being pointless, her last "update" was actually pointless, lol.

The problem is her words last year. If she just told us that she's working hard on the album without saying 2017 there is no reason to be disappointed. The lesson here is before saying anything as if you are sure, she should have a long-term plan and not just assume that she's gonna release it in 2017.
I am disappointed because it always happens to Avril but in the end, we're just going to wait and support her music.

If it wasn't the third time with three different labels I would be like, sure, fine, whatever. But she is the only artist this has ever happened to. I don't get it. Which leads me to believe it is her, not her label.

I personally genuinely believe that Avril herself thought the album could be released this year, but then something unexpected happened (maybe she got sick again or had a writing blockade or whatever) that caused the album to get delayed more and more. Why didn't she say anything about that earlier then? Maybe she still believed for a long time that she could still finish the album this year. Though that doesn't explain why she didn't at least say something like "I don't know if I'll still be able to release AL6 this year or if it'll have to be 2018".
Anyway, it seems very clear now that AL6 won't be released this year, for whatever reason. Stuff like that happens all the time. When Green Day worked on their seventh studio album, the recordings were stolen, forcing them to re-recording all those songs. Which they didn't do, though; instead they decided to start from scratch, the result being "American Idiot", released four years after their last studio album. When My Chemical Romance worked on their fourth studio album the band members had some personal issues. In the end, they weren't happy with the result, so they went back to the studio and started completely from scratch. The album was eventually released four years after their third studio album. Patrick Stump wrote a while ago that Fall Out Boy's next record would be delayed to January 2018 (if I remember correctly) because they weren't happy with their current material for that album either. PVRIS had to delay their second album from August 4th to August 25th due to last-minute production tweaks. That was announced only 3 weeks before the original release date.
It's obviously not uncommon in the music industry that albums get delayed. And I hate to say it, but there are always these kind of people that seem to think famous people only exist so they can be dragged down. And even worse, they don't just seem to think they can get away with it, they actually do get away with it. Avril could release a new song tomorrow, and some people would bitch about how they don't like the new song and say stuff like "you said we were gonna love the song, you're a liar!"
Sadly, I wouldn't know that there is anything that can be done about that. All I can think of is that you just have to ignore these kind of people. So that's what Avril should probably do. Ignore these people / "fans" who only make her feel bad and concentrate on her true fans and those people who treat her with respect.
But back to the delay: Like I said, Avril is not the only one to delay her album. However, all these other artists seem to be able to communicate that properly with their fans. In Avril's case, however, we, the fans, are the ones who have to figure out this kind of stuff. And then Avril / her team seem to think "oh, they've already figured it out themselves, guess we don't have to make an official statement anymore." But that's just unprofessional imo. Yes, we already know the album won't be released in 2017 and an official statement won't change that. But an official statement would just be the proper and professional thing to do. Besides, not everyone reads Bandaids. There are people out there (casual fans or nostalgia fans, for example) who don't know the album got delayed. They probably check Avril's Twitter or Facebook every now and then, see nothing new about the album, and then just go back to their other favourite artists and forget about Avril.
On top of that all, this is the third fucking time in a row something like this is happening to Avril and to us. Crazy delays, no communication... It happened with RCA, Epic, and now it's happening with BMG. That honestly makes me wonder if it's Avril who's the problem after all.
I really love Avril, I've loved her for ten years and I will always support her no matter what. That's why I'm really trying to understand the current situation and try to see it from her point of view as well. I feel sorry for her, because she has to put up with so many negative comments and disappointment currently (I'm not excluding myself there). But I also can't help starting to have doubts in her and her professionality. I just hope once the album is released she'll explain what happened...
Sorry for this essay, I just had to get it off my mind.
