She deserves to have a good team behind her who will actually promote her stuff, get her stuff on the radio, and SECCEED as an artist. If the wait has been this long because of the transfer to republic, then it will be worth the wait. Idk why so many people on bandaids are against her being a successful artist again. They act like itβs impossible or that itβs never going to happen.

She followed Charles Walk, the president of Republic Records, yesterday. And she now has a page on UMPG (republic is under universal music) so we are all here like πππππ

I am not sure Republic would be such a great move. They are big into the pop. And seriously would they put their $ behind her promotional? Especially with the line up they have?
Nickelback went to Republic, received no promotion. Album wasn't warmly received coz it was pop music. They left after 1 album.
AL6, the album that never was

Still sold more than their record under BMG. And I think I heard their single from that record on the radio a few times when it was released and have yet to hear any single from their record under BMG. Not only that but Avril ISNT nickleback. She has always been, and will always be a POP artist.

If you know what I mean?

She can also have a contract with three labels. Sony for Japan, BMG for the US and Republic for the rest of the world. We also know that Universal has publishing rights for some of her songs, so that also might be that.

Just like the hits from GL, they were obviously an updated sound for Avril but still very much her. They still had her essence.

Once she was officially signed to BMG, I checked who is releasing their artists in my country and its more than 5 labels - from majors like Sony Music, Universal to some small looking as independent. Didn't she have her profile on Universal since the Fly released? I'm sure she did but perhaps there's a new one now.

She had a universal page in another country since fly released. But now she has one on the US/Global section of the US site.

I donβt want her to go on Republic or any major label at all. I think they would force her to do pop music a la WTH that doesnβt seem to be what she wants to do for this record. And we donβt know necessarily that they would support her. They have their few golden artists like Ariana and The Weeknd that they put money into, they donβt care about the rest. Just ask anyone who has won The Voice.
I donβt think Avril NEEDS to be big again. Sheβll never be as big as she used to be. At this point in her career she doesnβt need to be. I just want her to make an album that is what she wants it to be and that is meaningful, a representation of her illness. I donβt think a major label would give her the freedom to do that. The last 2 albums were done with major labels and they both forced her to do these childish pop songs that conflicted with her vision. What makes you think Republic would be any different?

But most of them wouldn't be on my playlist. And my playlist is very diversified. But no Taylor, Weekend or Arians. Oh...i dislike the Backstreet boys, but the only way to catch Avril in concert was her opening for them. So I bought tix, saw her and was home before they even finished their set.

Here's what I think has happened: Avril signed with BMG. "AL6" was pretty much good to go. Then at the recording stage - there were issues that we will not know about (probably ever). This would explain when Zane kept saying "it's hard because she can't say anything". She has now signed with Republic (Personal opinion: a much better option for her!) but this has probably set her back to square one. I think the AL6 we thought we were getting at the start of the year is now 100% different to the AL6 that will drop next year. Completely different concept I am thinking. My thoughts anyway.

The other day didn't she post an IG story with a woman in charge of music promotion at BMG? I think that negates any possibilities of her signing with Republic.
Edit: Nevermind, went back and saw she was a music manager at Vector Management. However, looking at Avril's Twitter bio she still lists herself under BMG.
