hold up. Isnt she just signed with bme? She followed Charles Walk, the president of Republic Records, yesterday. And she now has a page on UMPG (republic is under universal music) so we are all here like πππππ Universal Music Publishing Group is just that, publishing and distribution. We clearly saw BMG is lacking wih distribution efforts as they just launched a Canadian office a few months ago. Universal also handles distribution. Big Machine Label Group is distributed by Universal, too. That doesn't mean she is signed to Republic.

I think they wrote many songs after mid-July when she met J.R Rotem, also with Lauren Christy and new people. Maybe she will keep half of the old song and half new because Zane said they were finally recording guitars after 2 years in the making I think he was talking about the 4 tracks they cowrote together. And I think Warrior was scrapped because when production started she stop talking about this song, never used #Warrior again. I feel like the sound will be something near to 25 by Adele. Maybe she will have her dream collaborations like Shania. I have high expectations for this album. I don't know if is it common to have christmas lights in the studio, when I first saw those lights in her studio pictures I thought she was recording Christmas music. in 2015 she mentioned a Christmas album as her next move. Maybe we will get a Christmas EP and in 2018 the AL6. This is how she will keep her promise about a new album this year. Also if she leave BMG I don't think it will happen without releasing something first, probably they have deal for one album that could be the Christmas EP/Album (which is good because christmas music only have promo for some days and barely one single, for people corcerning about promotion of BMG artist) and release AL6 with Republic next year.

This really is an unusual development, even for Avril. Is it a positive thing? We can only hope.

Quite honestly, unless she or someone from her team says anything specific about this entire situation within the rest of this year, I don't even see AL6 coming before fall 2018. Yeah, I'm obviously getting pretty pressimistic about the release now. Fortunately, I got other great music to listen to and a couple of other things to look forward to as well.

That would be even more of a joke that not releasing an album and pretend she didn't say it, like she seems to be doing. So she would have time to release a Christmas album that almost nobody would really care about, but not a "normal" album that fans have been craving for 4 years? That would be a new low on Avril's part

Avril's Twitter bio she still lists herself under BMG. I trust an updated roster list more than I trust a twitter/insta bio. I think you're missing the point. No one said that without a doubt she's signed to republic, it's a possibility that something is happening behind the scenes. However the fact she's followed Republic's president and that she doesn't follow any industry executives unless she's worked with them is something to question and think about.

I don't think any of you understand that no matter where she is signed, the record label will have her make a handful of radio-friendly songs in the hopes of it getting played, or it being streamed in order for BOTH HERSELF AND THE RECORD LABEL TO MAKE MONEY. That's how this industry works. The reason being signed to a major record label would be good would be because they have more money to invest into Avril, therefore making both of them enough money to invest into future music projects, other things Avril might want to do, better merch, better tour etc... If you want to see/hear/have more from Avril you have to go with the flow.

Nobody is disputing the fact she would need to record songs for the radio. However, there is a difference between songs that will do well on radio and making her do cheap pop songs that completely conflict with her vision for the album like what has happened with her last 2 albums. It's possible to make hit friendly songs that also vibe with what she wants for the album, similar to how My Happy Ending was a radio friendly song but it still sounded like it fit on UMS, or Girlfriend was a good representation of the sound for TBDT.
A "radio friendly hit" doesn't HAVE to mean only one kind of song or sound, which is unfortunately what Avril has done for her last 2 albums when asked to write radio hits. WYWH would have fit better as a lead single for GL than WTH, for example. Adult contemporary artists like Adele and Ed Sheeran have had success on radio while doing songs that are mature sounding and that adults want to listen to.
I don't think Avril should do teen pop songs anymore. Any label she signs with should try to rebrand her for an adult audience and recognize she is too old to try to continue appealing to teens. This is the perfect album for her to mature in her sound and writing and transition into an adult audience. She can't do that if they continue making her do these cheap pop songs that sound like something out of Disney Channel. It's completely possible for her with this era to write a song suitable for radio that isn't Girlfriend 4.0. I can envision something like GYWYL or Hello Heartache. There's nothing wrong with a label wanting songs for radio - but it doesn't have to keep being the same kind of single over and over, especially when it isn't what she wants for the album. If her goal for this album is to be mature and meaningful, the single should reflect that as well.
If all you're concerned with is success, then by that logic, I don't think her continuing to do these motherfucking princess songs is going to be successful for much longer. Teens today listen to Ariana, Taylor, Demi, Selena, etc. They're not interested in Avril. Avril is a dinosaur to these kids. They don't care about her and they probably think she's lame being over 30 and singing about Hello Kitty. I think she'd be more successful if she transitioned to an adult contemporary sound and tried to gain young adult fans, or maybe gain back the fans she once had that are now grown.
If we're gonna go by who she is following on social media, she is following BMG, and for what it's worth, she is still following Irving Azoff, despite no longer being managed by him. I'm not sure her social media followings are any real indication of anything either.
We can't assume a major label would invest money into her. Her last couple eras were pretty low-budget, in spite of being with majors. The Black Star Tour was one of the laziest looking tours I've ever seen in terms of production value. The music video for WYWH was clearly low-budget. Epic spent a shit ton of money on the video for RNR and the single was one the biggest flops of her career. A major label doesn't mean that much anymore. Plenty of artists have been able to make careers even being on small labels. It isn't the size of the budget, it's what you do with the budget that makes the difference.

By the amount of informations we have by now (after that video and interview with her telling the ideas of the the album), we can, or canβt, assume anything. Itβs easy to say that BMG is supporting her ideas, when we canβt even say if sheβs sticking with the original idea, which was a single based on her fight against her disease and an album this year. November is there and we donβt have any, so yeah by now BMG might be wanting her to make a βpop Disney hitβ as well, none of us canβt know, we can say anything but in the end all we have is: nothing
And we also donβt know AT ALL if this Republic Records thing means anything, so why assuming theyβd push her to make βpop Disney hitβ?
