Hi Everyone!!
I wanted to first thank my fans for your patience & support during my time away throughout my battle with Lyme Disease over the past 2 years.
It hasn't just been a hard battle but it's also been enlightening and will reflect in my new music, artistry, life, and personally.
I will always continue to make it a priority to fight and raise awareness about Lyme Disease with the Avril Lavigne foundation.
I'm really happy to announce that I am now working on new music and I will be releasing a new album in 2017.
I can't wait to open up and share my heart with you!
I'm excited for you guys to hear the new songs.
It's going to be an amazing 2017!

“For this album I have a new team behind me, and I just signed to BMG.
At this point in my career and in my life I just wanted to put fresh energy around me
and I feel like I’m having somewhat of a rebirth in my life. I’ve been faced with a lot, gone through a lot emotionally.
The whole writing process has been therapeutic and empowering.
This album is a natural process for me and it’s coming from a very honest place.
My hope is that it is an inspiration to many people”

Production has officially begun
Officially beginning production this week for the album. Wahoo.

"I am working really hard and i have like 20+ songs and i have to keep going, I just have to keep working on this album.
And i'm really just like trying to make it perfect, it really needs to be the best it can be for you guys, and it is almost there.
It's a process, it doesn't just happen overnight. Om in sessions everyday working, writing, recording - this whole month is the month we're planning on like, literally wrapping and it should be wrapped, and we're going into mixing. I know that everyone always come out with their record and say "is my best work blah blah" but i really put everything into this.
I've definitely pushed myself. I've pushed myself really hard to write about topics and subjects that i haven't really gotten into before.
I have been doing all of the song writing on the piano and everything is sort of empowering and emotional. This record is probably the most personal record. Now that i'm at the end i just wanna have a little fun and make sure i have some cool rock songs for you guys."

- The songs is written using the piano
- She has written on her own, then taken it to the producers to perfect it
- She has taken onto topics she hasn't really done before
- She has gotten more poetic and clever with the lyrics
- Warrior will be recorded this month, tho it was written 2 years ago
- The album might be her most emotional and personal to date.
She does write about her journey with lyme and the road to recovery.
- The producers has been so busy, that's why it has taken so much time before they actually got into the studio to start working.
- She really wants this record to be perfect
- There are punk rock songs in the making, because she wants to have songs to rock out to live
and also to balance out the record
- Writing and recording should be done this month
- Mixing is next
- She was thinking about releasing 2 songs as the singles (but this is just wishful thinking from Avril)
- She wants the first single to be a ballad

February 7th
I’m so fucking pumped. Waking up so excited. February is a great month. I’ve started mixing my album and all of the pieces are finally coming together. These songs are so close to my heart. Wish me luck while I throw every last drop of me into these final stages.
Time is power. And I needed this time. To live. To write. To go through my ups and downs. And while I am eager to get this done ha I’ve finally learned to enjoy the journey, the ride, the present time. 🖤

Final week of recording. Wrapping this album is bittersweet. It kind of freaks me out to be this close to the end... So I’m going to continue with writing because I have been loving it so so so much. I have been able to lose myself in the music and pour my all into it. #MitchAllan

Avril visited radio host Ellen K where she confirmed Head Above Water as the title of the 6th studio album.
And revealed that the album will come out in February 2019
