Avril just crossed the magical line of 2 000 000 000 views on her VEVO YouTube channel! Well done! BTW, Avril has the 98th most viewed YouTube channel. Wow, dude, that's like roughly one fourth of the world's population had watched one of their videos once. It's pretty amazing, if you look it that way. Should be more

I was wondering about one thing lately. When Avril started calling her fans Little Black Stars was there some kind of deep meaning behind it or was it just a name? And how is it connected with the song Black Star or the fragrance? What do you think?

Wherever it comes from, I think it's a stupid name for her fans and I wish she hadn't started it. "Black stars" is somewhat more tolerable than "Little black stars".

And how is it connected with the song Black Star or the fragrance? What do you think? The name came about when Avril was promoting GL in London and she asked the fans at an event to decide the name of the tour. She gave them a choice between The Black Star Tour or The Lullaby Tour. She said that she was thinking of calling it the Black Star Tour because the fans could be her little black stars in the audience and the name just kind of stuck ever since. Avril has said that "black stars" to her mean being different and unique. The fragrance and song both carry that message so it's all connected. As for the fan base name, I'm not keen on fanbase names in general because to me it's childish for anyone above the age of 14 to go around calling themselves a Smiler, Lovatic, Directioner, or whatever. I prefer something like Team Avril or Team Lavigne. But I always just say "I'm an Avril Lavigne fan," "I love Miley Cyrus," "I'm a fan of Ariana Grande," etc.

^Team Lavigne is so much less embarrassing... I live with two fears:
1)that any of my friends listens to Hello Kitty 2)that any of my friends learns about us being little black stars
there goes my social life

I tend to like those who include the name of the artist, like Lovatic or Arianator. In fact, most of "old school" Spanish-speaking fans (me included) prefer to call themselves "Avrileros" (Avrilers) instead of LBS, and it's been used since her beginnings. Too bad she didn't choose it as "official" fanbase name

Am I the only one of her fans who doesn't live in fear of what other people think of the things I like? XD Other people's opinions on who I am or what I like have no hold on me??? It's almost like I'm free to love what I love? ? Without caring? ? Because it makes me happy? ?? If she calls me a little black star then that's what I am to her and I am free to post that I am one wherever I want and not care about what people think of the name.

The two main artists that I follow are Avril and Taylor Swift; their fanbases are LBS and swifties, respectively. I don't think either of those names are too bad in my opinion; nonetheless, I don't really go around called myself a swiftie I think LBS is less embarrassing than swiftie though. I don't mind LBS. I like it better than Avrilers. The only thing that really bothers me about is the fact that it's from the GL era. That's the era that finally reeled me in, so it's fine for me, but it doesn't really represent her entire fanbase (especially those who are only fans of the any of the first three eras). It seems a little out of place to call the fanbase a name from the 4th album era (despite that the fragrance was released prior to that era). I don't get embarrassed telling anyone that I'm an Avril fan (partly because anyone who would recognize Avril name would know of her from any of the first three eras when she was really popular); but sometimes I do get embarrassed and refrain from telling people I'm a Taylor Swift fan because I find that a lot of people dislike her (or at least openly dislike her and secretly like her, lol). I just don't get embarrassed to call myself an Avril fan in spite of her infamous moments.

I think there are actually far more people who hate Avril than hate Taylor. Taylor's main criticism is that all she writes about are boys, she dates too many guys, etc. But no one can deny she's a huge star with many hit songs. Avril, on the other hand, gets criticized for much more- she's too immature, her style, her makeup, her husband. I'm always a bit scared to tell people I'm a fan because I'm afraid of the reaction. However I'm not scared of saying I'm a Taylor fan because a lot of people do like her.

Wherever it comes from, I think it's a stupid name for her fans and I wish she hadn't started it. "Black stars" is somewhat more tolerable than "Little black stars". I'm not little. I'm not black. I'm not a star. A lot of her fans from South America call themselves "Avrileros". I like the sound of that.
