is My Happy Ending your fave song? It’s my favorite song, so? I don’t see your point. That you should move on and accept that the album is not gonna be the damn UMS again.

It’s my favorite song, so? I don’t see your point. That you should move on and accept that the album is not gonna be the damn UMS again. I’m always respectful with my comments, but I’ve had it. Look, buddy, I NEVER said that I wanted an UMS 2.0. Your mentality is so fucking childish. Just because MHE is my favorite AL song it means I want all songs to be like that? Really? That’s your stance? Lol, pathetic. I love so many songs that came after that album, but I’m not even discussing this with you, since you clearly take for granted MHE was the last song I loved from her. We have to come to terms, for once and for all, that Avril Lavigne has ALWAYS, ALWAYS been a pop-rock (a bit pop-punk) artist in her previous 5 albums. If a pop-rock artist like her releases something completely different like this, it is only normal that some people won’t have the best reaction towards it. You like soul/jazzy music? Go listen to Lana Del Rey or Kelly Clarkson. Like R&B? Listen to Ariana Grande. But don’t drag others to like it just because YOU listen to that kind of music. Be respectful with the fans who are into a different, more guitar-driven sound, because it’s not LESS respectable only because it’s not as huge and successful as the pop genre now. I’m so done with all these people who keep pointing fingers at people who don’t need her to be huge again, or who don’t want her to sound like fucking Ariana Grande. This new song won’t even be a hit, so sorry to break it to you. Stop saying we all want UMS 2, it’s annoying af. Why can’t she evolve into a different type of pop-rock? HAW was a beautiful example of that. But no, according to you, we all want MHE/UMS 2.0.

Enough. Every one just STOP.
If you like or even love TMIO - that is wonderful! Avril is likley thrilled you do. If you do not like it, it is totally cool. It's just a song. You don't have to play it.
There is absolutely NO point in calling eachother out. To discuss and debate is one thing, but to be rude and disrespectful towards eachother has no place in this world.
I don't care who quoted whom or who started what. Be a decent human and be civil.
I'm so tired of people calling out eachother, Bandaids and everything. The internet in general has gotten fairly whiney about everything.
You talk about wanting Avril to be more mature. Then maybe it's time you all do the same.

I don't care whether her song becomes a hit or not . I just want her album to get rave reviews and sell tons. A Grammy nod in 2020 would be fantastic. Let's hope it does well .

I get not liking the song but just because Avril has always done a certain kind of music doesn’t mean she can’t ever do anything outside that genre or that it’s a bad thing if she does. I seriously never thought I’d see the day when fans hate a song more than Hello Kitty lol THAT was something I understand fans having a negative reaction to (it’s an objectively bad song, especially production-wise). THAT was something completely unexpected from her. TMIO may be different but it’s not drastic like HK was. It’s a mature song and actually well written, I thought that’s what everyone wanted from her?
Dumb Blonde sounds like it will be pop/rock and I’m sure she’s always going to have those songs but I also think that genre is very dated by this point and I think she has even outgrown it somewhat. You have 5 albums of that if that’s what you like to listen to. Personally I’m glad to see her step outside the box and try some other genres that actually suit her really well and are a little more mature and contemporary. I get people have their tastes but I really think if all you listen to is one genre of music, it’s kind of no wonder you don’t like the song. You’re missing out on a lot of great stuff by limiting your taste to one genre. A good song is a good song no matter the genre. And IMO IO is objectively a good song. The production really suits the song without overpowering it and it manages to capture a vintage feel while still being modern. The lyrics are a step above what we normally see from her. Her voice soars on the track. Whether this is your style or taste or not, thes is objectively a good song from her. And no one can say whether it will be a hit or flop or not. I personally think it has massive potential to chart well, but she needs promo. If they do a decent amount of promo, I think this could chart at least in top 40, realistically. Being optimistic, maybe top 20. HAW flopped, mostly due to lack of promo, but you can’t argue with the facts. Don’t say TMIO will flop just because you don’t like the song while HAW is her lowest charting lead single. Even with promo it would have never been a hit just because it’s not that radio friendly. TMIO is a lot more radio friendly and with promo, I think it has a better chance for success. I also think it is more rekateable for the GP, not that HAW isn’t, but HAW is a very raw song, while TMIO is a little more generic.

I have been hearing HAW on the radio quite a bit here in Pretoria, so I am really happy that South Africans are liking the song.

I've always listened to pop/rock artists it's "my genre", and I started loving Avril for this when she came out. But after 4 records (GL excluded) about that kind of music I understand her desire to change. I don't know if I can explain it well but TMIO is a very different song from the Avril's standard, but somehow, I can hear the old Avril in it: in the chorus, the bridge etc... anyhow we haven't listened the whole album yet, and we don't know exactly which musical genres will prevail. I can say that as big rock fan, TMIO pleasantly surprised me. I didn't think I would like it so much.
