There’s no reason why she can’t just periodically release good quality albums but she’s not exactly the most driven person in the world so I don’t see another album in the next couple of years tbh. She can’t be a touring artist when her tours really aren’t all that fun (same setlist time after time, its not a “show” as such it’s just her standing on stage) and her fan base is nowhere near big enough to keep selling out venues. Bare in mind she hasn’t toured Europe for years, the venues are fairly small and I’d say a good majority of the tickets have gone to people who just want to year Complicated etc for the throwback, not fans. They won’t come back in a year or two if she toured again.
I feel like she’s at the Vegas stage in her career but agree she doesn’t do enough for a Vegas show. There’s not a lot to her live shows to pull the public in. I don’t see anyone travelling across the world for it.

^ Agree with the above except that her shows aren't fun. I had a blast and just rocking out to the hits on its own was super fun. That's kind of just what her shows are like, yeah she is not a spectacle type of artist with dancers, pyro, etc. There isn't much to look at and nothing super interesting going on onstage but that's ok. I don't know how to explain it exactly but it's sort of like you're just there for the music if that makes sense. That's what her shows historically have mostly been like, with the exception of TBDT. You're just there to have a good time and dance around, scream all the words to the hits, and sing along. I'd say going to see her is more of an experience and feeling the energy in the room rather than going to "see a show" or see some huge spectacle.

Ah yeah I don’t mean for a fan, different when you know all the songs. I mean like say she toured every two years, she wouldn’t sell out Europe like she has this time around because there’s not enough to keep someone who isn’t a big fan coming back time after time. It’s literally just the hit songs and once they’ve had their nostalgia kick they’re done. She doesn’t do enough with her shows to justify regular touring in the way say Rihanna and Taylor put on a big fancy show, or even smaller artists can make the show so much fun for someone who isn’t a fan. Me and my boyfriend go to see Bowling For Soup most years, he knows like 3 of their songs but they’re just so much fun you could know no songs and have a great time. Avril just doesn’t have that. Her idea of fun is making adults put their hands up and down 600 times, lol

We nearly booked tickets to what turned out to be Chester’s last ever show, but backed out because we were seeing Blink the night before then going on holiday the day after and didn’t want to end up too tired. Biggest regret! If I want to see a band now I just book it cos “next time” may not come around.

I don’t consider venues for 3-8 K people to be small. Obviously not touring in Europe since 2011 makes her more desirable now but they can really use this as a start to make her a touring artist. The thing is, to become a touring artist you have to tour. The more you tour, the more people hear about you being on tour and want to see you. Having a decent tour once in 2 years won’t be a bad idea or impossible to organize/sell. Europe isn’t only the 10 (or even less) countries she is going to tour in March/April. Metallica isn’t the best example here but they are touring artists. They don’t need new album out to tour, they just need a reason to do it. But I think we all know she’s gonna be gone for another 2-3 years after the 2020 tour. Luckily they gonna do a South American leg but it doesn’t seem like that anyways.

Also I don‘t think that Avril should become a touring artist. I don’t think it fits her nor do I believe that she wants that. Also keep in mind that she had Lyme Disease and lost condition. If she wanted to become a touring artist it would probably take her a while to get in form.

But what would make a non-fan go to see her every two years? She doesn’t do anything different. The last 3 tours have all been very similar, fans will (generally) go anyway but others won’t and her fan base isn’t big enough to carry regular touring. If she was mixing up setlists, putting on a bit more of a show, just making each tour more different I’d be inclined to agree but most people won’t go to pretty much the exact same show every couple of years, not as if her tickets are particularly cheap either.

Hmm I kind of have to disagree. Sure, you might have some people who go for the nostalgia say "Eh I just saw her recently, I got my nostalgia kick, I don't need to go again," however I think there are a lot of people who are the opposite and might say "Why not?" ("Oh, what the hell?" lol) Maybe the European prices are not cheap, I don't know? But her prices in the US were extremely reasonable. Avril is definitely cheaper to see than many other big acts. I think a lot of people would choose to see her if she was coming to their area and the tix were super reasonable. They know what kind of show they're getting, they know they will enjoy hearing the hits. Avril is essentially the musical equivalent of McDonald's - cheap, convenient, and consistent quality that isn't the best there is, but you at least know what you're getting.

Ouch, I never would have thought I would read such a description of an artist on its own fansite, lol. I would've called her a musical equivalent of all the 'local authentic cuisine' diners, there's many of them and they aren't expensive, but they tend to offer a special twist to well known dishes.

The prices of Avril Shows in Milan were 51 euros, the equivalent of 57 US dollars.
Not too expensive, not cheap. For example, Gaga asked about 80 Dollars back in time. she was big. Now Sum 41 have a show in the same Venue of Avril, they ask 41 Dollars.

Ok but you compare that for example to Taylor or Ariana who are playing in stadiums or arenas, so prices are far more. Decent seats are like $300 per ticket or more. $57 for Avril is cheap by comparison.

UK shows were about £50 I think. £20 PP more than what I’d expect to pay for an artist playing an o2 academy. Not cheap enough to regularly pull in non-fans imo!

By the way I found yesterday the old Avril ticket of the Black Star Tour in Milan (2011) in the stadium, I paid it 36 Dollars. But I also think prices have raised a lot in general in the latest years.
