To be fair, comparing ANYONE to Freddie Mercury is kind of like comparing a Ford Mondeo to a Ford GT. They don't make 'em like that anymore.
Exactly what people see in Kayne West is completely mystifying, though. Is it his looks? Or do people sincerely think he's as talented as he thinks he is? Or is the whole thing some kind of joke that I'm not getting?

I totally agree with Harvey, I can't see what's so great about him and the fact that Paul McCartney collaborated with him is almost as unexplainable as when Mick Jagger starred in that horrid video with Will I Am AND Jennifer Lopez-the fact that mankind survived to that gives me hopes about us as a specie, though. I can't see where his so-called talent resides besides his ability to make people believe he's actually that good. As for me, I can't stand him. I don't like his music, but it would be just meh, "it's rap" to me if he wasn't such a self-entitled douchebag. I think that my disgust reached rock bottom when I read some interview in which he claimed that Franz Ferdinand, one of my favourite bands, was also his favourite group. And that he really liked Alex Kapranos "But" he added "My dick's much bigger than his". I had to re-read it thrice. Like Avril would say "So many questions, but I don't ask why".
And you just can't compare anyone to Freddy Mercury. I doubt West ever gets to have half his influence in music.

^Correction of the post above: Yes there are a few people who can be compared in terms of influence in music with Freddy Mercury; not only the aforementioned McCartney and Jagger, but also, for example, David Bowie, Madonna whom I'm not a fan of, or even Eminem-same. But none of them beats him in his own field. They all were/ are influential because they brought up something new-and managed to get enough mainstream support to turn it into part of the music "establishment". West has not brought anything we've not seen before-except the crime of naming his daughter North.

I can't even imagine that I would even want to hear him sing Bohemian Rhapsody. How was it even allowed... Btw Adam Lambert kills Queen songs. He has one amazing instrument. I don't like all of his music, though. But when it's good it's REALLY good. 'Whatdaya want from me' is AMAZING.
