I really like WAW! Love the "Shine" and even though the "behind us" doesn't rhyme, it's cute how her voice is gentle in that part

Nice arrangement, kinda what I expected. Still prefer the original but I do like some of the little things she added, even minimal, new to this one. We need to stop been so judgemental with Avril. It is not an amazing, original piece of work, yeah. But it's more promotion to the album (which is good) and gives coverage to Avril (which is also good). But more importantly, the profits are for a good cause and she probably feels great about doing something for the crisis. No one should focus their life, art and work on pleasing the fans and the market. While I do agree she could be doing more regarding the communication with her fan base, in my opinion Avril is at its best when she does her work (music) the way she wants to .

I really don’t understand how downloads work! She is currently 56 in the UK iTunes chart with WAW for a song that is pretty much already available and has had no promo and doesn’t currently have a released music video. I’m pretty sure it has already charted higher than IFILWTD. WAW doesn’t seem to have made an impact on the US iTunes chart yet... I’m really surprised by her performance in the UK.

I heard the song, and I read all the comments here. I still prefer the original, because of the production and voice sounded better. One thing that I’d like to mention is that the NET profits will be donated to the virus cause. I’m gonna leave the definition of net proceeds here:
“Net proceeds are the amount the seller receives following the sale of an asset after all costs and expenses are deducted from the gross proceeds. Depending on the asset sold, the costs may account for a small percentage of the gross proceeds or a substantial percentage of the gross proceeds.”
So, yes she is donating something and is more than nothing. But I think it is important to remember that all the costs of making the song will be taken from the final amount. She did not do that for free.
After pointing that, I want to say that I would expect a new song instead of a remake.
I just brought the “net proceeds” to attention because I already went to a place believing that all that money that I spent would go to an specific cause and after some research I realized that about 1% of it would actually help people.
If you want to help people, donate directly to the organizations that are working with the virus.

The net proceeds thing isn't surprising to anyone though. Of course it takes money to produce a song and for those saying she should have created a new song, well it would have cost her even more money to put a whole new song together which is probably one of the reasons why she decided to rework an existing one. I doubt it cost her that much money to produce this considering most of it was already done and she did it in her home studio, so I wouldn't be that concerned about the net proceeds thing. It's to be expected that not all of the money can be donated since it took some money to create the song in the first place. And most charities are like that, they have expenses they have to keep up with so more often than not whenever you donate to a charity, at least some of that money is going to expenses.
The US hasn't had a lot of time yet to find out about the song, so it's not going to be moving up the charts that quickly yet. But right now at 11 AM it's sitting at #46 all genre and #10 on pop. I think that's pretty good considering probably only fans bought it. It will keep rising as the day goes on and more people find out about it.

I agree with you, charities need money to pay for their costs and everything. I was just expecting that someone as rich as Avril would not take the costs of remaking this song. In the end of the day, she is making money from it too. I just don’t like the idea of putting her in a pedestal. She could have produced a new song with her own money and collecting 100% of the proceeds to the cause. That’s what some other rich people are doing. Again, this is just an observation and it doesn’t change the fact that at least she is doing something. She could just ignore it, but she decided to do something. Ps. I really liked the way that she sings the word “shine” *.*

I listened to the track on Spotify a few times now. It is a good track. The lyric changes make sense. I wish she'd change the "because we're alive" lyric but everything seems good. Except for when it almost ends in minute 3:08. That part sounds muffled, for a minute I thought my connection was fucking up. I noticed the original track also sounds that way but it's not as in the ear as this new version. It's the only part of the song that sounds off. Like I was listening to a badly leaked demo version. I wish she'd fix that. As for her nasally voice, I'm getting used to the new normal.

Does she really sing „No I‘m not afraid to do whatever it takes“ because I really didn’t realize it and now that someone pointed that out I tried to focus on that line but I can’t hear a clear I and not a clear We. ^^‘

I don't know if this is the right place to post it but in this recent interview she talks about the song and about the tour. If I dindn't misunderstood, she will re-schedule the tour. And I don't know but it seems like the WAW video will have some Avril shoots.

When ia she dropping the music video. I cant wait. i'm telling you, she probably didn't receive many videos. Wouldn't be surprised if she 1. put a lot of shoots of herself singing, 2. put existing images and shoots from the media or 3. cancel the music video. hope i'm wrong :C
