The fact that they changed the name of the tour from the HAW tour gives me the feeling they know the era is over. She's already said she's writing/recording new stuff and songs like Breathe may pop up on it. She does often re-use older songs. She's done it on most of her albums at some point

I think Rock In Rio happening next year is a good sign that new music won't be longer than a year. She has to release something before or after that show. Right? 😌 🤡

Let’s remember Avril got in touch with Lauren Christy for HAW since they were no longer friends after Let Go. So the song is new but probably it won’t be in any project since Avril start registering the songs she won’t use for the albums before the new music is released. What does that mean with the registering and it not being in any project exactly? Is it common to register something you won't end up putting out? Why register something that you're not planning to use at all? Yes I think WAW and the Fight Lyme concert was probably the most fitting way to close this era. It came full circle with it largely being charity focused and raising money for Lyme. I don't think the Fight Lyme concert was a way to close anything properly. Though maybe that's fitting given the opinions I've seen here recently?  |

This is awesome! I shouldn't get my hopes up (it's Avril lol), but I have a feeling she's keeping the "heavier, loud guitars and live drums" idea she commented on the Zach Zang show and I am here for it. Now let's get Travis Barker and MKG onboard!

I'm not gonna get my hopes up to hear any of this stuff that she's been working on over the last year. Most of the early stuff ends up getting scrapped in favor of "hits."

The concert itself was not great but it was for charity, which was her main focus this era besides a new album. And it was her last "concert" of the year until the tour can finally resume at some point next year maybe. |

I am a bit concerned tho. A part of me thinks she's too old for this genre...but i know that's a bit judgemental and she can obviously do whatever she wants, lots of artists still do pop-rock in her mid30s or 40s. But that part of me also knows Avril and i'm kinda afraid she will go too "immature" again and all silly. A weird mixture between GF and HK and that's what scares me lol xD
I also don't know what she will sing about with this genre again? Boy-bashing songs again?? i hope not. DB was still kinda like that but more from a "respect me" perspective and that was ok. But i don't see her writting 12 track like DB u know. I guess she should talk about other issues.
I don't see her going full emo again either. Like songs about depression and lonliness that were so popular in the mid 2000s u know.
that's why i'm afraid of this "goign back" to loud guitars and pop-rock. If this is the case, i think we can say goodbye to thos unreleased tracks like Bright, Don't stop, etc.
I do prefer her going pop-rock than cheap-mainstream-pop tho. I'm just worried about the lyrics and her "attitude.

I love that she goes back to pop punk. Many singers are bringing that genre back and they sound VERY good, like MGK, mod sun, yungblud, travis .. Bloody valentine is one of my favorite songs this year. Modsun also has songs that I really like like karma and stay away, I think they can do a good job together.
But yes, this type of music is usually songs about broken love or boy-bashing, it will be interesting to see how Avril approaches it this time. I think a good fun and aggressive album is what we need right now in these times of pandemic and sadness ... That together with a couple of powerful ballads would be great. Also, her new boyfriend Pete gives me confidence, I think he can help her in this "" new "" sound. He looks quite professional and a good musician for how young he is.
But hey. I don't want to get excited, knowing Avril, there is still a long way to go to listen to a new single. And she can discard music over and over again until reach the final result.

Omg I didn't notice that was Feldman 😱. He's legendary! I always wished she'd work with him. This news has renewed my faith in this project lol. I'm sure it will be a WHILE but this is good news to me.
I am worried about bratty and immature Avril. But I think she's youthful and can still make this kind of music. I hope Feldman makes her sound more like All Time Low pop punk rather than the emo rappers pop punk. A few months ago, I was down for it but not a whole album. I just wanted a one off single or collab. MGK's pop punk singles were good but the rest of his album sucked. I just barely heard Modsun today. I was surprised his music is cool but he sounds outdated...kind of the point though. If there is some rap or hip hop influence I hope it's subtle.
Kind of sad my country pop dreams are dashing though.

HAW was not it for me. I think that it's probably the best for her to try it with an more upbeat album.
The execution will be crucial tho. The co-workers seem to be on point.

I’ve no idea who Modsun is and all I know about MGK is he’s dating Megan Fox but I definitely know who John Feldmann is and that’s very interesting. But RIP yeehaaawvril
