AL7 Album Speculations Thread

HAW is better than GL or AL for me, but I think the record could have been better if they left in more of Rotem and especially Zane's work, instead of scrapping them for these generic sounding pop songs like Souvenir, Goddess, and Bigger Wow, which she was probably barely involved in writing. I get a vibe from her that she was not super involved in writing those songs and that they were added on at the last minute in an attempt to balance out the album. She even said she struggled to write fun songs. She has never discussed them or sang them live and when asked about Bigger Wow, she didn't really have much to say about it. IMO it's a decent album but could have been better considering they worked on it for 3 years. I don't think it's as good of a record as her first 3. Maybe this new album will be more of a return to form for her.

I hadn’t heard of Taylor until 2009. The only song I had heard was love story. I listened to her album online but it didn’t click with me.

Some of her songs sound similar, yes, but each album itself is different from one another. Obviously with the exception of folklore and evermore which are meant to go together.

Anyway I think we’re getting pretty off topic now. We have a whole thread dedicated to Taylor in the music discussion section if people wish to only discuss her and not in relation to Avril.

Well, HAW was much better than AL that's undeniable. And let's be honest now, Reputation wasn't that good either. I did like the whole concept, as an art project was great, a revange album, shady lyrics and attitude. I like the whole symbolism and the era in particular, but musically wasn't the best she's made. Same goes with Lover, some great tracks here and there, enjoyable music but not Red or 1989 level.

I think it is relevant to this thread tho. We always compare them so what's the point on moving comments anyway, the subject will emerge again anyways. It's not more "special" than talking about ModSun or MGK. But to my point: Taylor's lyrics are usually pretty good. Avril has to work on that a lot. I hope she takes inspiration from taylor and kinda make it a concept album. She's failed on doing that since forever, probably her most "concept album" is LG, is pretty cohesive but we're not sure how much involvement she had so...

If it's going to be pop-rock again i hope she does make a storyline or something. And if not, at least to be cohesive musically 'cause she kinda has an obsession to keep making AL's 🤦‍♂️

I hope Head Above Water is the last album where she tests the water and give us album that has a very clear concept like her first 3 albums. There is nothing wrong with pop-punk/pop-rock/punk rock as long as the message is refined and deep instead of something like we all know like stealing girlfriend/ stay young something.. I wouldn't say they are dumb but just not wise like When You're Gone, Contagious

She looks older and very beautiful. I hope we do get to hear music fast. I refuse to use that other S word now. I wonder if maybe it's a collab for Modsun and a single for Avril maybe featuring Modsun too or just as a co-writer. Because that's too much time spent together just for one collaboration.
