There are more clues about the single with MOD SUN❗In this interview he said that there's only one feature on his new album (which we all know by now is going to be Avril) and he also said "It's got like a Foo Fighters-Feel, very rock, very energetic..." Here's the video! It starts at the point where he begins to talk about it.
I'm sooo excited 😝 January 8th can't come soon enough!!!

Fuck, I'm excited. That's exactly what I was hoping for. A very high energy aggressive track. I still can't believe Avril might be leaning in a similar direction with her own music as well -- that's the craziest part to me. I feel like I've been waiting for this moment for such a long time now lmao. Crazy.
Also the MV for Bones is amazing! Karma was also pretty awesome. Modsun has a very consistent style and I love that the videographers he works with always capture it so well. Just imagine how epic they can make 'Flames' look like! I'm pretty sure Modsun will want to go all out for the video with Avril judging by how enthusiastic he is talking about the song and the fact it's the only feat in the entire album (+ Avril being a well-known name in the business).

The foo fighters? That's interesting. I love the foo fighters style. They have a very aggressive style. I hope then that her vocals come out strong. No high pitched vocals this era please. Feldman I'm putting my trust in you dude.

Also, I'm so happy Avril is surrounding herself with artists who lead by example on how to interact with fans AND how to bring passion and enthusiasm to the table while discussing their music. I'm not even super familiar with Modsun and I couldn't help smiling watching how genuinely excited he is about this new album he's about to release -- it's the type of giddying over the moon enthusiasm that is just impossible to stay indifferent to and it just makes all the fucking difference.
Fingers crossed at least some of that passion rubs off on Avril.

I just can't wait for "flames" to be released so we can all make speculations about how the music video could look like. I just hope that avril shows a more rocker/heavier side and not the MFP she played during girlfriend and rock n roll music videos. I don't know why but I always loved how she looks in her music videos where she isn't smiling that much and shows a serious side like in losing grip, nobody's home, maybe mhe and don't tell me. Probably he wasn't but well, I can't have it all.

I had no idea who Mod Sun was before Avril started working with him. Now I just watched the music video for Mod Sun's "BONES" (as Avril told us to, lol) and while the song isn't entirely what I had expected (judging by Mod Sun's aesthetics and the little I'd read about him so far, I'd expected a mix of heavy-ish rock and rap, but the song is actually a lot more pop-rock-driven imo), I do like it. He's got a good voice with a nice distortion to it in the right places. Most importantly to me, however - he seems to be a fantastic drummer! I recently checked his Wikipedia page, too, and it says he used to be the drummer for two post-hardcore bands. So I guess I can finally truly hope for a song with Avril (even if it's just a feature) that will include some real and heavier drums and more interesting drum patterns than those simple ones I always hear in pop songs (like, bass drum, bass drum, snare drum, repeat or sth. similar). Bring back those cymbals and open hi-hats! 
Btw, is it just me living in a bubble, or does rock music and production with more real/live instruments seem to be returning to the mainstream slowly?

Listen to her previous single Karma, it is a sound that would fit Avril very well in my opinion ... I think flames will be even more rocker because of how he described it |

Can I just say I’m pleased that for once we ALL seem to be really hyped for a music style she’s leaning into? I think it’s what the world wants really, Avril going back to her pop-punk sound. Who knows? Maybe this will give her more attention than her last two eras?
I just hope she has presence in the song, and it’s not that she only sings a small part.

I hope she really has presence in the track so that we can give her some true recognition and not just a bridge or pre-chorus.
