Wait what happened with Rihanna? I know Rihanna sampled "I'm with You" for "Cheers (Drink to That)", even featuring Avril in the song's music video. Did Avril reach out again to work together and get ignored by Rihanna?

She should do a collaboration with a bigger artist. I think it would give her a new boost. Dumb Blonde was just meh and too predictible; I judged that one by the title and it definitely hit my not-so-high expectations.

It certainly sounds like reusing Lyme performance.
But there’s no word of it being a new song. It sounds more like “she offered” or even “she donated” but they used “contributes” which is often used when somebody famous gives something for an event - a signed guitar etc. to stress the effort they did.
I think unless Avril confirms the performance on her social media, we should assume it’s nothing new for us, her fans. The Lyme set was recorded in LA and there were two musicians with her...



The collab with Nicki can serve as the answer. She had one collab with One Ok Rock which was completely under promoted which I think also shows money talks aren’t working in her favor.

Leaving the names aside, arranging collabs is very difficult and time consuming. It has to - or should be - a win-win situation for both sides, it has to fit two, very often very different, visions and purposes. Most of the collabs nowadays are done only because the label wants to push one artist with the help from the more famous one from their catalogue.

I am really curious to see how, from the marketing and pr perspective, the collab with Mod is going to be handled. But I don’t expect anything spectacular because he’s not recognized by the mainstream media and Avril’s name, in this case, may provide the recognition he needs. I think the collab is not exciting for him than it will be for journalists.
Yet for me personally the outcome of their collab can be an indication of the direction Avril’s new album is heading for. And this is the most exciting!
