I didn't wanted to say it earlier but I get the same vibe. When they released that short clip from behind the scenes she was literally like a female version of ModSun....and i was kinda....uhm...what? xD
It seemed to me at first that she was kinda too much influenced by him...? copying his clothing style and everything, she writes like him on instagram now...SO...i'm not a big fan of that to be honest.
But then I also thought that maybe everything was done to fit the music video vibe only (her clothes in the short clip). But it's unclear if those shots were from the music video anyways so... I hope she doesn't copy their style. Not becasue i don't like it, but because it seems fake to me... I would rather see her copying one of her first 3 eras' styles rather than copying someone else.

Is she? She always wore fishnets a lot or for music videos and her hair looks like the wig with a headband around it tho. I saw Converse wich she also always have worn.
Edit: And the colors in her hair, well, she experimented with bright colors since TBDT.

yeah i know the seperate outfits it's nothing new or that she didn't wore in the past...BUT the outfit combined doesn't look like her, which of course that's argueable since HAW was pretty different as well, but my point is that she's now influenced by him. When were the last time she wore a bandana? than mini ribbon from Jay leno concert during UMS in 2004? that wasn't even close to a bandana xD
ok, i don't think that the technical name for it sorry, i'm talking about the piece in her head. Anyways, i don't have anything against it xD but her outfit was also pretty bright (?). Idk, call me crazy, but it does look too influenced to me. I guess that happens when you become friends with someone idk

She's literally interacting with fans regularly for the first time in her entire career most likely due to Modsun's influence on her, she seems passionate about her work again, she's (supposedly) giving us a new album sooner than she has done in 15 years, Flames is being promoted on all her pages, she's gotten the chance to work with amazing artists and producers through this new group of people she hangs out with... I literally can't find a single thing to complain about here, personally. If Mod is indeed heavily influencing her, it's all positive so far (for me).
Also her style was not anything out of the ordinary for Avril at all. People are even comparing it to a bunch of pics from photoshoots of 2002-2004.

Exactly, her clothes in the studio (the green pants) are pretty much identical to other she wore in 2004, I can't see much difference, just her real nature coming out more and more |

^ Oh yeah those studio pics were a major throwback!  But I think they were referring to her clothes in that BTS video Mod posted a few days ago. I thought they were still very Avril, but to be honest I'm totally down with her wanting to jazz things up on photoshoots and videos fashion wise. And Chad Kroeger's influence was the most hated, ha ha. Are celebrities allowed to be fans/stans, too? I think some of us are more prone to have 'eras' where we jump from focusing on one thing to another, and becoming a fan of an artist (or maybe like in this case also a friend) can make you adapt many things you find cool about them and what they do - it can practically be a catalyst through which you explore new things that you might not have known or took notice of before. Copycatting can of course be too much, but if she's going to refresh her own artistic expression through inspiration in the long term, then its going to be all fine and interesting to be seeing the results :-) |

So, as some people made their fanmade cover with the MFP title. I decided to make my own version of AL7 with a title I think fits better. 😎  So, apparently "s**ners" it's a football team SO i made a 2nd version with just "s**n" 'cause i don't really know if "s**ners" sounds good in english. It sounds funny to me 'cause it's like the verb "to s**n" (a person who "s**ns" (aka, waits for Avril to release an album)) 😂  |

To be honest, I don't care much about what she wears or who is she influenced by as long as she's happy, comfortable. Until now she's doing amazing to me and 90% of her fans, hardcore and not so hardcore ones are kinda excited and feeling some 00's vibes and this pop-rock/punk-rock style they have always been asking for.

I think it's kind of inevitable that you reflect the people you hang around with a lot. In a way all members of a group will slowly influence each other until the group has sort of an "average identity". So I don't think it's very surprising that Avril is starting to reflect Mod Sun's style or that it seems like she's somewhat "copying" MGK with her choices? It's just the group she's a part of currently and she of course starts working with the same people because those are the people that get recommended by the people she's with. Like biggerwow said it's all pretty cliquey. Also let's not forget that this is a Mod Sun music video and release so it's not surprising it has Mod Sun's style all over it. I just hope that for AL7 she finds her own spin on it (though you could easily argue this was always her style to begin with) instead of indeed leaning so hard into the exact things that the others around her are doing that it all becomes interchangeable.
