Yeah, she said this year, but it means nothing. Like really, nothing. It would be so great to have an album this year, but I am not that excited tbh and I feel a bit bad because so much of you are so really hyped, but I just... I'm not. I just know how it goes when it comes to her releasing albums. She goes back as she has some new ideas (or who knows why) and most of the times her original visions are almost completely scrapped. GL, AL, HAW. What we get is no consistency, no energy, no passion for the songs. Sorry for the negativity. I am not trying to drag anyone down. I'm just standing on earth and leaning on my experiences (from the last 12 years).
On the other hand I do care about her releasing music and I'm waiting for it, that's why I'm here. But I'm not letting my expectations high anymore.

Maybe after HAW's flop she realized there's no need in taking so much care of an album. Mayeb she learned the lesson and instead of releasing one album in 4 years, she realised it's better to release two different albums in the same amount of time.
Just the thought that we could've get 2 HAW albums. Like, the sad part with all the emotional songs, ballad, stripped down versions, deep and depressing content. And then, 2 years after maybe a love album, with songs like goddess, souvenir, LMI, all that stuff.
Let's say it's understandable bc she had Lyme and maybe she combined 2 ideas for HAW album. But maybe she finally learned the lesson and instead of waiting for new ideas she'll just release AL7 as soon as it's ready and work on the next one as soon as the era it's over. This pandemic porved us all that wasting time it's useless and waiting for the perfect time doesn't make sense. I mean, i guess she should've learned that lesson from being 2 years bedridden BUT ok 😂 some people need to be taught the lesson more than once xD

I think it should be released in July just so she can follow the pattern of not releasing 2 albums in the same month 😁

I don’t really se her as copying Mod or MGK’s style. I’ll be as bold to say that MGK has stolen her style from TBDT tour. Like the pink, the studs and bondage straps proper remind me of the outfits she wore during that tour. Especially when she closes the show with Girlfriend remix in the pink hoodie and bondage pants, that’s the look MGK is going for these days.

I’m hopeful this time Avril won’t scrap the album and keep going back to the studio. She’s definitely got to be aware of how artists are releasing music these days, with the way Taylor just dropped 2 albums in one year with almost no advance promo. I remember Avril tweeting about folklore so she definitely knows. Now Avril doesn’t exactly have the power to drop an album out of nowhere and have it hit #1 with zero promo or lead single, but Taylor specifically talked about how she was going to wait a year to release it and then realized that would be kind of stupid when the album is done. 2020 greatly changed the way artists release music. There’s no reason to wait anymore.
I think she might wait to start promoting her own stuff so as not to draw attention away from Flames and Mod’s album, but a lead single might be likely around March or even April. With album to follow in summer or fall maybe? With the way she is talking about things, I definitely think we’ll get the album this year. Though we know we’ve been burned before (“It’s going to be an amazing 2017!”) She’s been in the studio very consistently for a couple months now, so I think at the pace she’s going it’s perfectly doable to have the album out this year.
If they decide to reschedule shows for 2022, then a fall album release with maybe spring/summer tour would probably work pretty well.

They need to get it out ASAP. Not only so she doesn’t get bored of it like she usually does, but because people are at home now, streaming music. I’m playing music 8 hours a day at the moment, when I’m in the office it’d be an hour or two max. Leave it until late spring/early summer and assuming the vaccine rollout goes to plan, people will start going out again. I’d be disappointed if they go with the “release lead single then leave it 3/4 months until the album comes out so nobody cares anymore” thing again.
I think she’s further along than they’re letting on - surely all this isn’t just for Flames? It’s not even her song.

I get the impression that many of you are (understandably) a bit desperate for things to go smoothly with new content which also means that it's easy to get swooped up in the hype. I've been there before and all I can say is it's much better to go along expecting the usual and be pleasantly surprised than to throw all your hopes and dreams on a pile immediately only to watch it go up in Flames.
I definitely think she wouldn't want to get in the way of Mod Sun's releases either. I guess part of the idea behind the collab is not only for Mod Sun to acquire some of her fans but also for Avril to gain some of Mod's. Which would be advantageous if she wants to release an album in a similar style since then she can build her fan base and market by poaching fans that are already into that style but might not really be into her yet/anymore. So I don't think they'd want to overcrowd the space and get in each other's way by having a major new Avril release overlap with Mod Sun's current growth. I think Flames will be the thing for a bit and all this is dual-purpose promo: The Flames release builds hype for Mod Sun's album as well as "reactivates" Avril so her audience (and some of Mod Sun's crowd) starts anticipating her planned upcoming release. That's why it's seemingly so much more than you've all gotten used to (which from my understanding was essentially nothing, which isn't hard to top). In short I think it seems like so much more effort than usual because: 1. There wasn't much effort before so any effort at all seems like much in comparison and 2. It's promo for two artists with one of the two aiming to build a bigger audience for her upcoming attempt at a comeback album.
As I see some saying above: Flames now, music video soon-ish, month or so of relative inactivity, then into promo and a possible lead single release somewhere around March with the album at an unknown date hopefully at most a few months later. That seems realistic to me and what I'm expecting given the current information. Anything more is icing on the cake.
Stay excited, enjoy what you get and feel in the moment but try not to get overhyped. You can only set yourself up for disappointment that way and we don't want that!

Well, if she really adopts modsun style of promo that would mean 2-3 singles before the albums drops. I wouldn't mind that to be honest. I think it's better actually. I prefer getting bits by bits and keep the hype rather than giving me the album and getting bored of it in like a month. Times are different and we're getting bored easily. I hope she releases at least 2 singles before the album drops. My idea would be 3.
If she indeed ends up releasing 3 singles i hope it's one single per month. (not like she did with al5). Lead in march, second in april, third in may and album in june or july posibly with a 4th single to promote the album. that, or releasing the album with the 3rd single in may)
I think that would be great. It sounds too good to be true SO we'll probably gonna get the album in 2025. 🙃🤡

I've just heard this song, released today, and I think it could be a perfect comeback single for Avril. I just hope her first single to be at least this good (and more or less this style):

I wonder when or if she'll tell us in what stage of the recording process she is currently in. Like before the hype, her social media promises mean very little to me. I do get excited but mostly because you guys' energy is infectious

I really hope we only get 1-2 singles max before album release, cause by then we’ve already heard like 1/4 of the album. I’d like to have as many new songs to listen to as possible. She could always release a stand-alone single that came from their sessions but won’t be on the album.

But then of course when she came back, she went back to the studio. So I don’t know if her updates on her progress really mean anything when she can potentially go back and do more.

I've just heard this song, released today, and I think it could be a perfect comeback single for Avril. I just hope her first single to be at least this good (and more or less this style): Pale Waves’ front woman has previously said she’s been influenced by Avril. Funnily enough I was listening to the radio in work the other day and they were doing an interview with her and she was talking about all the musicians that influenced her and so they played Sk8er Boi. First time I’ve heard Avril on radio on years. But yeah I really like Pale Waves and a lot of their songs sound to be in a similar vein to Avril. People should give them a listen. I like ‘Noises’, ‘Changes’ and ‘She’s My Religion’.
