Avril Lavigne Opens Up About The Tragic Story Of Her Fight With Lyme Disease - Metalhead Zone
One of the most famous female pop-rock singers, Avril Lavigne revealed the details of her fight with Lyme disease during an interview with the famous host Kyle Meredith for his Youtube channel.
As you might remember, Avril Lavigne was diagnosed with Lyme disease back in 2014. Lyme disease is a bacterial infection that can lead to severe mental and physical problems if it’s not detected early. For some people, it can be treated with antibiotics within a few months. However, in Avril’s case, it was a bit more difficult so she had to be treated in bed for almost two years.
In a recent interview for Kyle Meredith’s Youtube channel, Avril Lavigne talked about her latest studio album ‘Head Above Water,’ and how it was inspired by her struggle with the disease.
“This last album, ‘Head Above Water’ was just so personal – all my songs are, but this was on a very deep level of what I was going through in my life at that time.
The ‘Head Above Water’ album was so healing for me, I didn’t know if I would be doing music anymore with what I had gone through with my health struggle.
And I came out turning to music and writing songs without even trying to write them, so ‘Head Above Water’ and ‘Warrior’ were the first two songs I wrote that were just like on my heart.
It’s about me fighting and trying to survive what I was going through, and the beauty of music is that it can mean different things to different people, and it’s like with this song ‘Warrior,’ taking on a whole new life of its own.
And it’s like now it has a whole new meaning with what’s going on in the world today, and that’s what I do, turn to music and write about what I’m going through.
I’m a strong person, and I like to have a message of strength in my music so that I can look at the situation in the eye and keep moving forward, and that’s how we have to be in life, like, through different things we go through.”
