I don’t think fan clubs are really a thing anymore. I don’t really see the point of paying for membership to get a discount on merch or tickets. If membership was free, then sure. Otherwise she’d have to do something to really make it worth it, like maybe a virtual concert or Q&A just for members.

Miranda Lambert has a fan club and her fans are buying it. I don't get it too anymore.

^ I feel like fan clubs might be more of a thing with country artists. There's a couple I know of who I think at least used to have fan clubs and maybe still do. Country fans are the ones who go out and buy CDs, still purchase music rather than stream, still listen to the radio - they are very traditional with the way they consume music, so they are more likely to join a "fan club" type of thing, but I think for pop acts that's a thing of the past and unless some really exclusive stuff is being offered or membership is free, there is no real incentive to join.

I wouldn’t trust her team to fulfill what they had to offer. Like seriously.

kpop and jpop still do fanclubs as far as I know but yeah, there needs to be a real and regular incentive to join. You would have to add more now than you would in the past.

I only know of Carrie Underwood (country) and Avenged Sevenfold (metal) fan clubs. The former requires a payment and the latter offers it for free. Both seem great but the latter is my favorite. If Avril were to have one I'd like it to be just like Avenged Sevenfold's fan club. But they pull through and I doubt Avril or her team will. There's a lot that's possible nowadays without a fan club and they don't do it. And if they do there's usually problems and a severe lack of communication . Sorry I don't mean to leave it on a negative note because I do think we could benefit from a FREE fan club.

I was in the Paramore one eons ago and got a few things like a t-shirt and some badges/buttons and postcards. I remember Backbone did all of this until it grew stale and it was made free in 2007/8-ish? If she were to make one I'd want it reverted to the original concept plus a few more incentives to keep paying members.

Like, seriously i see artists getting number 1's after 20 years....and that's pretty hard to achieve. if she was to make a fan club, i really doubt it's going to be worth it...

Well, we have this forum, and we could start an Official Fan Club and ask for Avril's Team's blessing and approval. It's been done. I don't know if people have the time and resources to run it, though. Just a thought.
