It's been two weeks and I still mention every day how lazy this attempt at a "livestream concert" was to my friend who gave me a ticket and watched with me. Not only was the way it was advertised misleading (the wording used to describe the event, the image of Avril on a stage used to promote it, the lack of clear information about it before it started, etc) but the actual event felt more like a long ad for the foundation that you had donated to be able to watch. Baffling. If this had been a free stream that urged you to donate it would have been an entirely different story and I actually think it would have gone over well. Seeing that most mentions of the event on social media, except the merch posts, have been wiped is fairly concerning to me as it speaks volumes about the attitudes involved. I understand trying to minimize negative press and attempting to make up for it later when tension has gone down a bit but barely acknowledging the "show" you were supposedly very proud of and soon after trying to bury it completely won't go over well with your fans I imagine. If there even is a next time I think it will do poorly because of this first taste of the amount of effort that's willing to be put in for charity, which is a shame as it's supposed to be doing good for people in need. What a way to shoot your own good will in the foot.
I guess to me personally it is so disappointing because I only became a fan last year and got tickets for the tour next year. I was very excited to go see Avril live. My friend (who was also coming with me to the tour) got me a ticket for the livestream seeing as the tour is likely cancelled and we were hoping to at least get something a little special. We even stayed up into the middle of the night to watch. Whatever this was it wasn't really what I was looking for.
As a more recent fan I have been wondering though: is this kind of behaviour and attitude typical of Avril and has it just come under scrutiny or has it only been on display in recent years? Reading posts on this forum occasionally the past few months has led me to believe many of the more serious fans have been unhappy for quite a while, especially with a lack of clear communication and half-assed efforts. Has this behavior grown over time or has it been there from day one and has it only recently become too much for fans to excuse?

Has this behavior grown over time or has it been there from day one and has it only recently become too much for fans to excuse? Her career has been going downhill like this since 2011 around the time of her 4th album Goodbye Lullaby. That was the era where the all-singles set list started, among other things. It’s only been getting worse over the years. Her fifth self-titled era was awful, but mostly excused due to Lyme, even though most of the issues started before she even got sick. This era has been all over the place in terms of promo which we can probably conveniently blame on COVID, even though again, most of the issues began before that. She has been miscommunicating with her fans for quite some time. I think this concert was the final straw for many since we had to pay for it. Lack of announcements about new music or saying the album is ready then taking another 2 years to record is one thing, but anything that involves us shelling out our own money is surely going to piss some people off and rightfully so.

Over the last 9 years or so things have been going downhill. But you have to remember a big chunk of this period she was out of the limelight and suffering from Lyme disease. No pun intended. But this has never happened before. I would encourage you not to de disheartened, as her live shows are different. I’ve never been to a live show but I’ve got all the DVD’s and watched countless videos on YouTube. I’ve been a fan since 2002 and never got the chance to see her until I got a ticket for head above water tour which was postponed. Although this is another slip on the road I’ll never stop loving her or her music especially. Each album of hers has a special place in my heart and Always helps me to remember certain times of my life.

Each album of hers has a special place in my heart and Always helps me to remember certain times of my life. True! I got to see her live in 2005 and I was supposed to see her live again this year. I've also seen countless recordings of her previous tours and I've always got the feeling that when it to comes to her concert performances (in front of an audience) she puts in a great effort. You can't compare it to this show. I just think she needs a real life audience to deliver, because she feeds off the crowd and she knows it, that's what bothers me the most about this so called "concert". To demand money for this kind of show (charity or not) is just baffling. I really hope that especially the new fans don't get discouraged too much by this underwhelming experience. Everyone who still has a ticket for the upcoming tour will be so much more happy with her perfomance.

Where is the acoustic birdie??? It's on @avrilbandaidsofficial IGTV. It's only screen recorded from TV, but still enjoyable. Edit: It's also on the IGTV of @avrilbestitalianworld4 . The quality is pretty good 😊

Sort of off topic but Avril appeared to work her ass off for the first 3 eras. The amount of promo she did for GL alone was insane, then she appears to drop off after that. This may be a combination of GL not working out how she imagined or just being "over" it after so many years. Obviously her personal life and Lyme disease played a large part in where she is today though. As BogoGog24 said, early success and fame meant she doesn't really have to work at anything in her life now if she doesn't want to, as she has no need to financially. Who knows, she may of even had kids by now if it had worked out with Chad. No offence but their whole relatioship and marriage looked not that real to me. And I don't see Avril as a mother from how I 'know' her, her attitude in videos's and such. I could be extremely wrong tho and she might want kids but since she isn't settled down she's more the fun one. I don't know. She's very young at heart I think. But that was completely off topic xD

But that was completely off topic xD Her younger sis has a kid.. I don’t know I think it also depends if you have found the right partner. Makes sense to have kids then. I’m not sure if her health would allow it either , does she still take medication for Lyme? Some say that post a big illness due to medications there are chances that a child will have issues. By the way do you think her parents advice her that she should now start a family of her own.
