Can't believe there's people here complaining that this costs money when 100% of the profits go to charity. Like... wow, seriously. A while ago people were saying she should do a virtual concert because so many other people were and now she's organised one, for charity no less, and some people are like "well, it'll probably not be worth it" or "but it's not new music." I'm going to buy a ticket. I never get a chance to see her live and I'll be on holiday from that weekend so I could even stay up late and make a thing of it. I would get the merch bundle but $60 is a lot for a ticket and t-shirt. I don't like things like this where there's such a big jump up between prices. I think the virtual concert idea is GREAT and if executed well, could be the best thing from her this 2020. I am however concerned about the “special guests” and how this all seems to be a small 5 song concert from her plus performances from other people I wouldn’t pay to listen to nor care about. It’s for a good cause, yes, but we’re in the middle of a pandemic and many people have lost their jobs and are in no conditions of paying that price unless they know it will be worth it. If she gives us a full 15+ songs set then yes, I’d probably buy it. We don’t know how it will be recorded. If it will be like the mess that Ryan Cabrera did in his house or if she’ll rent professional equipment for an HD show with HD audio and multiple cameras. There’re so many questions that need answer because these are expensive tickets and people deserve to know what they’re actually getting from the get-go.

What if the connection will be bad, or there will be something wrong with audio, and similar. Imagine paying 25 or 60 or 150 bucks only to not see or hear anything, or hear it poorly! :/

This virtual concert is a really good idea imo (and something I truly hadn't expected from Avril tbh...). The price for just a ticket is totally fine imo. And I'm glad to hear that full proceeds go to the ALF.
I'm still not entirely sure if I'm going to buy a ticket, though. For one, the concert starts at 2 am where I live; if it's, say, 2 hours long, I'm really not sure I'll be able (or willing) to stay awake that long. That depends on what kind of show it'll be. Which leads me to my next point: How many songs will Avril perform, and which ones? And what about those special guests? I don't really want to have Avril perform the same singles she performs every damn time and in between have other artists (that I maybe don't care about?) perform their stuff. But thankfully, there's still more than a month to think about all that / maybe get some more information. However, there's some stuff that maybe some of you may be able to help me with already: - Are the tickets limited? Or could I buy mine e.g. just one day before the show without having to worry about it being sold out? (Probably a stupid question, but I'd still like to know for sure; I've got zero experience with online concerts.)
- Is credit card really the only payment they accept?

Given it’s a weekend and most people are around all day, a better time would’ve been nice. For Europe at least you’re looking at 1 or 2am. Not sure what time it’ll be for Asia etc? But can’t imagine it’s convenient. Even if it’s a proper full show then the time makes it a no go for me. I’ve seen other artists put on shows (Bowling for soup jump out as an example) where they’ve done two different times to cater for different time zones. That would’ve been nice given the price.

I think unless there will be insane traffic (unlikely), it should still be available to buy day before - its all online, after all. I don't even believe they'd run out of those limited edition shirts. And I think credit card is the only way to pay, I haven't yet seen anything international that would accept debit or similar. edit: I checked, only major credit card providers are available for paying. Uncle Bob says (some?) debit cards also work!

I could be wrong but I've seen these things debut at a certain time but still be available to watch if you have a ticket for days after if you're in a bad time zone. It would be worth checking but I think that's probably what would happen so you don't have to worry about time zones, just watch at a convenient time for you.
It's being billed as a concert too and is being distributed in association with other platforms so I think it's pretty safe to say it's a proper length concert. The "friends" could well just be used as an opening act kind of thing, maybe one or two special guest performances. I'm sure they're not announcing them now because they have a month until the concert and will hint/announce things like that to keep the hype up between now and then.

It’s 5:30 AM in India, so it will be in the morning for south East Asian countries. Timings are convenient. The cheapest ticket as expensive as a real concert here. How does the cost seem to you guys?

It'll bring them plenty of exposure and funds, but I'm sure even establishing the foundation and constantly keeping it running must've taken her more money and effort than this one concert, it was just more hidden from the public eye. Who knows, maybe she injects big amounts of money into the charity from her own sources regularly?

I would love to buy a ticket but right now I just don’t have enough money to spend it. Maybe before the concert if the tickets don’t sell out. About the concert.. since it’s a paid show I would like to know at least who the guests are and how many songs she will perform. I don’t need a tracklist where the songs are named but to know how long it will be would be a good thing to know. About Avril not disappointing us: I do not *expect* something special from Avril. She can just make it as the concerts from the HAW tour with a similar tracklist. I don’t necessarily need new songs.. new performed songs from HAW would be nice but that is something I wished for for every concert and not only for the virtual one. So I don‘t have any new expectations other than the things I already wanted for the regular tour.

I got the $25 ticket, it's 10am on a Sunday for me so not bad time wise. Glad she is doing it but I wish we had more info about guests and the setlist she will be performing. Not a huge fan of virtual concerts, as a huge part of the concert experience is missing without standing in the crowd and singing along. But I'm still happy we have something to look forward to from Avril this year.

Personally my expectations were the lowest of the low for this announcement so I'm super happy she's doing this! And the fact all the proceeds will be going to charity is really nice.
This is my experience with a virtual concert I attended very recently. They had a professional audio and video setup so it looked the same as if the artist were performing on TV or a professionally filmed DVD, kind of like that. Multiple camera angles, really good sound. Some people upgraded their tickets to be VIP and you could see their faces on a wall in front of the stage. They were silenced during the performance and then unmuted so they could applaud and the artist could interact with them.
After you purchased the ticket, you received an email with the link and access code to watch the show. When it says "doors open," that's when you can log in and it will have a countdown clock showing you how much longer until it starts. The livestream was available for 24 hours, so you could either watch it again or watch it at another time if you couldn't watch it live. But it expired after 24 hours. So I have the feeling even if they offer that option with Avril, the stream will likely expire after 24 hours.
The show I attended was honestly really good. The tickets for her, a much lesser known artist than Avril, I think were $20 plus fees. Yes there still have to be ridiculous processing fees involved even though it's a virtual show. So $25 for Avril is not that bad and with all the proceeds going to charity, they're going to bump it up a little bit because they figure people will pay more if it's for charity. I would say that $60 for the shirt bundle is probably not worth it though. And $150 for the VIP is definitely steep but at least they're offering some cool stuff with it.
I do wish they had mentioned who the surprise guests would be, but they probably don't know yet. It's possible it will be set up like a normal concert where they play a few songs like an opening act and then she comes on last. Because of the surprise guests, I doubt her set is going to be super long. The concert I watched was 45 minutes I think and she played about 8 songs? with talking in between. Her set is probably going to be about the same as it would be at her normal shows. Because it's for charity they're probably trying to appeal to as many fans as possible so going with her hits is probably what they think will draw in an audience.
I could see the set being something like:
HAW MHE Girlfriend Complicated Sk8er Boi I'm With You WAW
I think regardless of how long her set is or what she plays, it's still neat she's doing this. We were complaining that we weren't hearing anything from her and that there wouldn't be a chance to see her perform until next year and with the way the virus is going, who knows if those dates might get pushed off again. And all the proceeds are going to charity, so it's for a really good cause. I think I might buy a ticket, even if I don't know who else is performing and I kind of don't care about the other acts and she probably will just perform a short set of her hits, it's still nice to get to see her perform. It's something to look forward to and it's nice to know the proceeds are going to a good cause. Honestly this is the best thing she's done to raise money for her foundation, I think a ton more people will tune in for this than the lame WAW pre-recorded video.

I got the $25 ticket, it's 10am on a Saturday for me so not bad time wise. Glad she is doing it but I wish we had more info about guests and the setlist she will be performing. Not a huge fan of virtual concerts, as a huge part of the concert experience is missing without standing in the crowd singing along. But I'm still happy we something to look forward to from Avril this year. Got my ticket too! With the fees it came out to $27.50 which is a little pricey for a virtual show, but since all the money is going to charity I don't mind as much. And it will be 8 PM for me on a Saturday so it's nice to have something to look forward to that day. I agree a virtual show doesn't compare to a live one, but considering the circumstances it's the next best thing. At least you can watch in the comfort of your own home and I'm assuming it will have a professional audio/video setup so the quality should be pretty good.
