He's giving me some queer vibes. Maybe bisexual? What do you mean by "queer vibes"? Anyway, it's 2021, why should we discuss someone's sexual orientation? Don't get me wrong, but why should we care if he's bisexual? Is it our business? Is it even surprising a bisexual person is dating a person who may present themselves as heterosexual?

To say that someone gives off “gay/queer” vibes is basically a homophobic/transphobic statement, in this day and age. There’s no certain trait that indicates someone’s sexual orientation, except being attracted to people of a certain sex. No one knows his sexual orientation and unless he chooses to share it, it’s not really anyone’s business and I don’t know why anyone would care anyway. Just because he dresses a certain way or talks a certain way doesn’t automatically have anything to do with his sexuality.

I'd give elina benefit of the doubt that she's maybe just curious, though I agree that you can't just mark off people as this or that based on their appearance or behavior. Like, it is indeed a private matter, and ultimately none of our business, but it is a thing that sparks interest, much like how Elliot Page came into quite a spotlight a while ago. Anecdotally, I myself have been suspected or asked if I was gay quite a few times over my looks and 'vibes', but I must say that some didn't do it maliciously, some were just rural teenagers with curiosity - and even though they didn't ever get an answer from me (my trick to fend off bullies), they were nice and kind, so they didn't seem inconsiderate intentionally, they just didn't know any better, I think.

If that’s the case, then shouldn’t you already know that someone’s sexuality can’t be assumed based off their appearance or mannerisms? And yeah it’s totally possible for someone to be sexist against their own gender, racist against their own race, or homophobic against their own sexual identity. I’m not saying you are but your statement was. Maybe you meant it in an innocent way, but I think it’s important to point out that statements like that only perpetuate harmful stereotypes.

He's giving me some queer vibes. Maybe bisexual? Questions/remarks like this aren't really acceptable these days. They're often used in a rude and anti-LGBTQ context to insult others and have become associated with such.

It brings a special kind of joy to speculate on whether a celebrity or your idol may be of the same "tribe", so you don't feel so excluded. I suppose context matters. But it really irks me whenever someone claims that non-binary or trans gender identity or queer sexuality are private matters. For each individual, sure, but in general they are political and public issues. When I was a teenager, I had no hope of ever marrying and having children with a woman. It has now been 2 years that it has been possible the legal way. It is not my private, personal issue that I'm not cisheterosexual, it's very political and public to me.

I'd equate that to someone actually buying the "Melissa" theory or straight up slander/libel. There's absolutely no proof, even if your speculations turn out to be correct. With this kind of reasoning, I could speculate that Avril's a sociopath based off something silly like how she smiles(like a user on Reddit did). I'd like to give you the benefit of the doubt here and say that you're just speculating and nothing more, but experience tells me you're secretly playing off your speculations as fact. I'm getting some "L Chat" vibes from you, which isn't a good thing.

I think she’s just saying that for people who identify as gay/bi/queer and the like find it interesting in a way to speculate on celebrities’ sexualities because it makes them feel less alone, kind of like how maybe Avril talking about her experience with Lyme might help others who also suffer from it. Almost all celebrities’ sexuality gets discussed at some point in fandoms, unless the celeb in question has been open about it explicitly. For example, about 10 years ago people speculated Avril might be bi/lesbian because there were pics of her grabbing a female friend’s boobs and cuddling with her. It’s not really anyone’s business nor does doing those things with a woman necessarily indicate what her sexual orientation is, but I can get why people would think that and talk about the possibility. At the end of the day, it’s just speculation and I think most people who like discussing it know that. I think they just find it interesting because they’re interested in all facets of that persons life or they want to feel like they belong. Like seeing a famous person have some sort of struggle helps others feel less alone kind of thing.

I just googled L Chat and I'm still not sure but hey, at least I learned about a new discussion forum.
