I assume people are voting the songs in terms of the song quality instead of the best-closing song, otherwise I don't understand why Keep Holding is by far the most voted, cause the song ends so abruptly (like it seems they cut off the song 1 or 2 seconds before its ending) and it doesn't sum up at all the album, neither has a message that relates with the concept of TBDT. The song is really good, but it's not a good closure for the album, imo. I'd vote for Goodbye. I don't like the song, it's simple and plain, but it is a great closure for the album: it serves as an ending for the storytelling of Goodbye Lullaby and well, the title of the songs itself sounds like a good closure. I also like Hush Hush as a closing track, specially since you can hear her ending it with a "shhhh" and the song fades.

Goodbye closes that real chapter of heartbreak and such.

I'd have to say Break Of A Heartache.
LS is the only Avril album that doesn't end with some sort of ballad.

Voted Goodbye.
I think Contagious should have been the closing track for TBDT the song also ends on "You make me feel so high All the time", KHO is more of a bonus track and does not represent the album.

I agree with the people saying KHO feels a bit out of place in TBDT. It is an amazing song, but it doesn't work that well as an album closer imo.
I've voted for Break Of A Heartache. I feel like the song brings everything together thematically for Love Sux and closes out the album with a bang. It also stands out for being the only upbeat album closer in her entire discography, making it a little more special. My other options would have been Slipped Away and Goodbye. Slipped Away has that haunting, darker quality that represents UMS, and Goodbye has the vulnerability and the simplicity that represents Goodbye Lullaby.

I have to go for Goodbye i think. Not one of my faves, but if we're talking of a perfect album closer, it'll be this one for me. Its title, the vibes & mood it gets you in, it's lyrics and the whole song context makes it perfect for a closer. "I have to go, and leave you alone.." it just suits things. My second best closer would have to be Break Of An Heartache. It closes the album so well, and that little "huh!" at the end, like she's trying to say "i'm done here!" and that little wink at cannonball lyrics just represents a perfect.. end. A perfect timeline here, in my opinion. My favorite one ? Keep Holding On, because the lyrics hold a very special place to me, the whole song message, and also because i chose to get it tattooed. Not an Avril fave of mine, but the lyrics remind me to stay strong and that things happen for a reason.. as she says in the song. β€οΈ My least favorite, now ? Warrior. We know Avril is one hell of a wonderful determinated human being (!!!) , but, this song just seem so cliche in my opinion.. It Was In Me Is way more Avrilesque i think, and says what it has to say.

"Naked" for sure. Its a beautiful song and acts as a perfect closer to Let Go in my opinion.

I'm gonna go with the unpopular opinion of Warrior... it's one of my fav songs by her (I've had my own health battle so I connect with that), and I really love how to open the album, in HAW (song) she's asking for help to overcome Lyme, and then she goes through the rest of the stuff in the middle songs, and the closing song she's saying she knows she'll survive. To me, it's not just her getting through Lyme, but it's her reclaiming her confidence/strength after EVERYTHING that happened in those few years. For me, this is especially apparent when thinking about the song Bright, as well, seeing just how low she was feeling and how much she struggled to find herself again. It might be a "cheesy" or predictable song and end to the album, but I'm fine with it because I do relate to the song and I'm always a fan of singers releasing empowering songs (especially after a rough patch in their life). And I think it's not the worst transition to then go into Cannonball if you want to listen to the albums back to back. Sonically they're very different, but the overall message is similar. To that end, I would say Break of a Heartache is my second favorite album closer for reasons others have noted: ties Love Sux together very well and the callbacks to Cannonball.

For me it's a tie between Slipped Away & Goodbye. Both songs have a very special place In my heart.

I voted for Keep Holding On although I really like Slipped Away as well. I listened to it a lot when I was younger, to both songs. I also like Naked. And the other songs are just average to me.

I voted for Break of a Heartache because I think it was a consistent end to a very consistent album. The rest I either think were not really suitable for the end of an album (Naked, Slipped Away) or had a different sound to the rest of the album it was supposed to sum up (Keep Holding On). BOAH stays consistent and summarises the theme of Love Sux perfectly imo.

I voted KHO but yβall are right! Itβs definitely the most iconic option here but Break Of Heartache is my favourite conclusion π

When I opened this thread and read the first post I voted my favorite track, which is KHO. Then I read all the comments, and yes, maybe it's not a "closing song", but it was my first option, so for me it must mean something. So my first option stays for KHO. That being said, Avril always has a good song to end the album, sometimes more in line with the album (sonically of topic), sometimes not that much, but always with a good song. A song that invites you to repeat again the album. For me there is no worse thing for an album than a bad closing song that makes you feel... "bah, I'm gonna just shut down the player".
I would choose:
1. - Keep Holding On. 2. - Slipped Away. 3. - Break of a Heartache. Afer this I cannot decide, I would always change the order lol

How haven't I seen this thread until now?!
I voted for "Break of a Heartache". I'm just not that big a fan of closing an album with a ballad, it seems like such an obvious choice somehow. Also, I feel much more inclined to immediately re-listen to an album if it ends with a song that makes me feel energetic. BOAH does this fantastically, especially being preceded by the calmest song of the album. That way, BOAH's power hits even more. And then the last line being "so I guess it's goodbye" - it all just works so well! BOAH for the win easily!
