I like both the original version of Let Go and Let Go(20th Anniversary Edition) and I love the bonus tracks on it but I listen to the original version more often so yeah.

Is this opinion to be given without considering the extra tracks but just comparing the ones already included in the original album, right? If that's the case, then I still need to figure it out by listening to every track twice with HQ headphones. Nobody answered this crucial question. Comparing the old songs to the remasterd ones is one thing, considering the whole package is another. But since in the previous comments people are considering the whole package, I am going to say I prefer the Anniversary edition: being able to officially listen to more songs than those included in the original version is always a plus for me. I can easily overlook any possible change in the original songs, wheter it was for the better or for the worse, if I get a greater number of songs. A fair comparison for me would be done considering only the same songs with different versions, which I still have to compare carefully. But considering everything, the 20 Years Anniversary wins hands down anyway for me.

I definitely prefer the original. What I've heard of the remastered versions is pretty bad. Everything just sounds messy and cluttered like they've pulled every single sound in the song to the front. Nothing's subtle or in the background anymore and her voice gets a little blocked out by it. Why is the worst. The original has a simple vulnerability about it but the new version loses all that charm. I do like Breakaway though since it's an all new recording I’ll never forgive them for removing her ad-lib of “I hate it!” out of the last chorus of Complicated.

i wanted to start a thread asking people to list the little things that they changed in the remaster that they liked- just so that we can all maybe hear things that we might have missed; but maybe that's best to just do that here?

I like this idea. Here, or in another thread as our fearless leaders see appropriate. My two cents would be: COMPLICATED: The 'uh-huh's' that are in stereo at the beginning of the 2002 release are pulled into the center channel. TOMORROW: The strings (Cello?) at the end now pull heavily to the left channel on the 2022 re-release. That's all I got so far. I tend to listen quite casually and Let Go is not an album I have listened to over and over (I was 33 when it was originally released!)

I’m coming out with a new podcast episode Friday where I discuss the production changes I noticed.

Tbh I don’t know, I think in live performances she’d sing “yeah yeah” but to my ears on the studio recording it either sounds like “I hate it” or “complicated (ated)”, hard to tell. Either way, they removed the ad-lib and it sounds so weird without it.

I've also always though it's "a-yeah-yeah", mainly because she sings that in live performances & in the music video, she also seems to say "a-yeah-yeah". But my mind is blown hahah, maybe it was a lie all along

I definitely prefer the original version, mainly because I'm really attached to it and I don't really like change in general lol

I just listened to the remastered and the original version of Complicated (my favorite song from Let Go) back to back and while I wouldn't say the remaster is bad I deffo prefer the original. While the remaster has a "crispier" sound, the bass isn't as loud as it is in the original and that's one of my favorite parts of the song. I also wish they had kept the "yeah yeah" in the final chorus.
However, I like the new version of Why more than the original.
