Avril Lavigne covers Adele’s ‘Hello’ with an alt-rock twist
The cover was coupled with a new acoustic version of ‘Love Sux’

Avril Lavigne has released a new alt-rock cover of Adele’s ‘Hello’ for the Spotify Singles collection.
Released on Friday (June 24) exclusively on Spotify, the fresh cover comes with an acoustic version of Lavigne’s own ‘Love Sux’. The ‘Hello’ cover sees Avril Lavigne deliver a passionate and soulful vocal performance over powerful alt-rock instrumentation.

The newly released acoustic cut of ‘Love Sux’ that accompanies ‘Hello’ sees Lavigne trade in the original track’s energetic pop-punk guitars and drums for gentle percussion and a lone acoustic guitar.
Lavigne said of her ‘Hello’ cover via a press release: “I love Adele’s song ‘Hello’ and have been dying to do a cover of it. The ‘Spotify Singles’ sessions were a fun opportunity to finally do this cover as well as reimagine my own song ‘Love Sux’ as an acoustic version.

I love this! I was afraid to hear this, if it didn't measure up to Adele's original. So I'm relived, happy and impressed !!! I'm impressed Avril's team wrote an actual press release! But why not a video intro too like with the 20th Anniversary re-issue of 'Let Go'. Avril was obviously at Spotify to record the track, why not get her saying: "“I love Adele’s song ‘Hello’ and have been dying to do a cover of it. The ‘Spotify Singles’ sessions were a fun opportunity to finally do this cover as well as reimagine my own song ‘Love Sux’ as an acoustic version," on camera at the same time. To be fair, maybe she did and it just hasn't come out yet. Maybe . . . |

Late last year, Adele shared her love for Lavigne’s Let Go during an Instagram Live. “Do you know what? I do like Avril Lavigne. Her first record, I listen to all the time,” she said. “I think it’s such a great record.”

They even mentioned this song on Dutch radio and played a little clip from it! The radio DJ also said Adele was a huge Avril fan and vice versa!
