There must be copyright rights she wants to have. If she wants to re-sell the songs to other artists, or simply if someday in the future an artist should release a song with an identical sound or lyrics, she can legally do actions for plagiarism, it's her work at the end of the days.
But I don't think they're removing them and asking fro legal rights because she wants to release them in future, they have no more value in this sense.

I don’t know if them removing them means they plan to use them/sell them or they just don’t want them out there. But a lot of these have been sitting online for months, so it would seem weird they only just started caring about them being out there now. I’m kind of not holding out hope they’ll be used (AL8, Sk8er Boi movie, documentary). The only one I think might get used is possibly Teenage Nightmare for the documentary. And perhaps Californyeah might get released in some way or other since I don’t think Avril and Mod would pass up a chance to put out a song together. I do remember them saying maybe one day they’d do a whole album together so maybe they want to save it.
Remember that weird thing that happened with Joker where it was like someone stole the song and pitched it and retitled it? Maybe that’s why that one isn’t getting released officially either.

It doesn't change the fact that if somebody will want to leak it - it will be leaked until the links will be shut down. Copyrights have always existed even before today

I re-listened to some of the leaks (you know, take them in one last time...) And I want to reiterate how much I love Joker. The play on words is awesome, I love the melody, I love how it's sort of Bite Me-esque in the vein of "I know my worth and you're missing out, I'm not putting up with your BS," but a little more playful than Bite Me (that being said, I'm a Bite Me stan). And Shut Up is really growing on me, giving me big nostalgia feels because I think her voice in it sounds a bit more like the LG/UMS days and while the lyrics aren't the most imaginative or grown-up or evolved, they're something I can imagine her writing back then which just increases the nostalgia factor. A fun song and I can see why it wasn't included, but did make me nostalgic. Eternally is a cute song, but again I can see why it wasn't on the album.

Don’t understand how it didn’t make the cut, there’s at least a handful of songs it’s better than on LS. |

Overall I feel the leaks are there for a reason. You can see why they didn’t make the cut. I feel all of the songs in the standard album are stronger and better-produced than most of these songs. I’m sure if this was the other way anround and some of the standard tracks didn’t make it but some leaks did, I’d be like “how on earth was this not included?” I would’ve replaced LIWYHM with Joker though, but I can’t say that for the rest of the leaks. I’m like them all, but not as much as the tracks that made it to the final album.
Having said that, they would’ve all made a killer deluxe or Side B album.

LIWYHM for Joker is exactly what I’d swap too haha. I wouldn’t swap in any of the other leaks - they’re good but maybe equal to some, but not better than the other album tracks.

I've always felt LIWYHM felt a bit forced, like it wouldn't have been included if it wasn't a collab. Like Avril's verse is great and makes sense, and the chorus is very catchy, but the verses are actually stronger. Like it's certainly not a bad song, but IMO it seems it was only written to be a collab to push for a mainstream single. Joker would've been a very popular single I think.

Yes I would only swap LIWYHM for Joker too, the rest of LS tracks are great. I think the problem was that the album was too short. She had so many songs that she could have added at least 15 on the standard album and then 3 more on the deluxe. She said that thing about the sister album and maybe thats why she wanted to keep the album short but i kinda knew at the end it wasnt going to happen, shes now moving on to AL8 and we dont really know if she will include songs made for LS cause they will be like 3-4 years old by the time AL8 is out.

I would happily have swapped some fan favorites like deja-vu and fu for Hellelujah because the lyrics on those songs are so bad that i can't even enjoy how catchy they are... And I don't know if it's because i cannot disassociate LIWYHM with the tik tok dance Avril created for it but i find that song super cringeworthy.

Shut up, Joker, Eternally and maybe Teenage are bangers! Hellelujah is also really good so for me it is hard to pick up the best. I just want all tese tracks to be on album, and retrograde seems like LIWYHM 2.0.
