Oh that was cool to listen to! The instrumental is horrible and the chorus could use a bit more energy, but overall she's did well! Agree, this song was written for her, the lyrics couldn't be more Avril. Except she would have to add "I'm a motherfcking princess" sonewhere lol

There’s one leak that’s definitely got country vibes to it. I’m curious to see what AL8 will be like. I feel like all of these leaks are all vastly different to each other.

Might be biased here but i prefer Avril's version of B**ch. The original is iconic and has a very catchy chorus, but the instrumentation is average and quite underwhelming. I don't get the hate towards Avril's instrumentation of this song...is actually a lot better than the original lol. The guitar go a lot harder in most places, but especially in the bridge. Her vocal delivery is very dynamic, doing an octave higher line on the second and third chorus, it gives more power to the song actually. Her adlibs and runs are very beautiful and pleasing to hear.
The only thing i would have change is the "oh ah ah ah" from the bridge and just leave a heavier instrumentation instead, or at least put some words to thos adlibs, or change them to "yeah yeah's" idk...something different. I think they kept them like than to resemble the original adlibs at the end of the song.
But overall is a great cover. Again, biased as i may be, but i prefer hers over the original.

I agree on that, I prefer Avrils version of the song over the original, it has more drive. I listened to the original a few months ago and it came across kind of boring although I remember that it sounded like a banger back then. Avrils instrumentation is better than the original and she added a couple of really nice elements but it still lacks of.. I don't know... low end frequency sounds? But theyve been missing since TBDT lol. I heard Avrils natural voice in like two words here and its always so refreshing, obviously I need more of that.

In the original version I like the clearer drums and the guitar part - the whole instrumental is guitar-focused (fitting Meredith). Avril's cover has somewhat filtered drums, did they make the drum part with the computer? And the guitar is often reduced to a supporting role. Somehow both kind of drown in the many instrumental layers there are. But hey, this (probably intentionally) leaves the stage to Avril's beautiful vocals! While Meredith's vocals aren't bad, they have more of this self-confident energy. Avril's version instead is showcasing her singing capabilities with her natural voice and with vocal layering and harmonizing. In my opinion, it fits the "multiple psyches" the lyrics are about. It's easily noticable they/Avril really put in effort with the vocal part and did a great job - it really pays off!
The song's character would've allowed to go for a harder rock than Avril chose to. But on the other hand the cover is musically more coherent and don't alternate between rock chorus and pop verse like the original does. So now I'm sitting here undecided which is the better version. (I mean, both are good!)
