Leaked Songs Discussion Thread

I think this must be legit. There are backing vocals, harmonies, and even melodies I don't think we've ever heard before. I really appreciate those, btw. It's super interesting to hear what the song went through. I think this is the fourth version we have now (not counting "We Are Warriors").

However, this newest leaked version still really isn't my cup of tea. Like I said, I appreciate getting to hear this different approach to the song, and especially the previously unheard vocals. But my god, this kind of production is definitely one of my least favourite, and I also don't think it suits Avril or the song at all. I'm not the biggest fan of the final version that Avril produced, either, but it's miles better than this one imo. I think I finally understand why Avril ended up producing the song herself. Didn't she say she was waiting for the right producer for ages, but eventually gave up and just produced it herself even though she prefers bringing in other people when it comes to production?

God, that version sounds bad. It might not be 100% finished but the general sound doesnt fit her at all.
If she goes for electronic stuff again, she shoukd continue with what she started with Cannonball. Like electro-punk kinda stuff (it was popular here in germany, I know it can sound really good!).

Another reason to be happy that she and that dude broke up.

Finally got a chance to listen to the Warrior remix and I burst out laughing as soon as it started with those ridiculous WHOA OH WHOAs. Then I laughed again when the beat dropped in the middle of the chorus, I just thought it sounded so over the top and way too pop for Avril.

It sounds very dated IMO, like something out of 2012/2013 rather than 2018/2019. It’s certainly too pop and wouldn’t have fit the record. I can appreciate trying to give it some oomph but I think an epic orchestral version would have worked better than electro pop. I do like how her vocals are different on the bridge before the final chorus. I almost wonder if this was meant to be a potential remix if the song ever got released as a single, not that this was intended to be the final album version. Even if the way Avril ended up producing it was a little bland, simpler is the better approach IMO than whatever this is lol

The album version is completely underwhelming and boring for me. At least this version makes me feel something (laugh). 

Still can’t believe daydream has never leaked in full after all these years. I guess no one actually has the full song?

I wouldn't really like to get a 20th anniversary version of UMS. I just wish we had more unreleased material and the full version of Daydream. But I doubt very much that we will officially hear unreleased songs from UMS. I'm sure most of them are very weak in terms of lyrics as Avril wrote mostly with Evan without any major writers involved. Also it could be cool to know what they did with Ben Moody other than Nobody's Home.
